"Virgil!" Patton rushed in with the others as soon as the doctors left. He grabbed Virgil's hand and held onto them tightly. "Oh my god, are you okay?"

Virgil nodded mutely, though Patton could see how dull his eyes were. He could tell something bad had happened.

Soon after Virgil made the wall of shadows to protect his dad and himself, the police came and the villains ran out. They all got away, and Virgil's mother was missing. It was no coincidence, the villains took her.

"Did they hurt you?" Roman asked, and Virgil shook his head.

"Did you hurt them?" Remus countered.

"What happened?" Logan and Janus asked at the same time.

"Don't overwhelm him," Thomas warned, walking in with something wrapped in plastic under his arm. He gave Virgil a smile, but the teen just looked away. "I'm so happy we found you, Virgil. I just wish we could have found you faster."

"It's okay," Virgil said, almost in a whisper. "I knew you were searching."

"I brought you some new prosthetics, I-I heard your other ones were destroyed." Thomas set the plastic wrapped prosthetics down.

"Thanks."

"Virgil, I'm really sorry about your mother. We're searching for her as fast as we can, and once we find them we won't hesitate to send the heroes in."

"They-" Virgil sighed, and what he was going to say died on his tongue. "I know. Thank you."

Thomas pressed his lips together, Virgil was hiding something. "I'll leave you alone for now. Just... take care."

As soon as Thomas left, Virgil frowned and squeezed Patton's hand.

"What did happened?" Patton asked.

"Shadow..." Virgil sighed. "Noah, my dad had his team get me."

"Shadow's your dad?!" Janus asked.

"Don't be too shocked, everyone knew apparently. I shouldn't have hoped that he wasn't, but on the brightside my mom was there."

"But... she was taken again?" Logan hesitantly asked.

Virgil frowned deeper. "I finally got her back, and they took her from me again. I don't even know what happened, she should have run away. They had to have been working with someone else, there's no other way they would have found her. Someone else had to be there. I could have- if I didn't have that damn power suppressing collar on, I could have saved her and my dad wouldn't have gotten hurt."

"What... what even happened?" Roman asked.

"Not much, really. Got kidnapped by my dad, was reunited with my mom, and spent a few days in their mansion. Then one night, Shadow's team betrayed him and attacked us. My dad pushed my mom out of the room, I stayed to help him fight but I didn't have my powers. I got... my dad had to help me and ended up getting hurt. The collar was taken off and I created a wall of shadows around us since we were overwhelmed. Then the police came, the others fled, and the rest was a blur. Next thing I know, we're both brought to the island."

"I'm so sorry, Virgil. I shouldn't have left you to fight the villains."

"Roman, I told you to. I told you to run, and Thomas was able to get help, so don't you dare regret your decision. Plus, I got to see my mom again."

"I wish we had an idea of where they could have taken her," Logan said regretfully.

Virgil looked away for a moment. "I know who might. Can I ask a favor from you guys?"
