TW: blood, impalement, electrocution (not death), and kidnapping (side note, this is probably the longest chapter name I've ever had)
Virgil had trouble sleeping, no surprise there. It was kinda hard to fall asleep when you lived in the same house as five villains, four of whom don't seem too happy about retiring. They would have no problem hurting Virgil, except for the fact that it would upset Shadow.
Plus, the collar around his neck was uncomfortable. It was hard to sleep when a piece of metal was digging into your neck.
Still, Virgil was exhausted so he had to try. Plus, there wasn't much else for him to do anyway.
That was until he heard the scream, the one that had always been in his nightmares and was once again real. It had to be his mother.
Virgil jumped out of bed and ran to the door, almost tripping because of his prosthetics, he didn't normally wear them to bed but he didn't feel safe in the mansion. He twisted the door handle, but it was locked.
Not for the first time, he tugged at the collar around his neck, pulling at it to break it off. When he gave up with that, he decided to break down the door the old fashion way, by shoving against it with his shoulder.
It took three hits for it to start cracking, and a few more for it to finally break. Once it was down, Virgil started sprinting down the hallway towards where the scream came from.
He saw a doorway open, and heard fighting inside.
"This is your last chance to stand down!" he heard his father say.
"Sorry, but we don't take orders from you anymore," Virgil recognized Metal Dragon's voice. The other villains were rebelling against his father! And they were putting his mother in harm's way.
Virgil looked in and saw Noah was cornered, and the other villains were in front of him. His mother was behind Noah, and the shadows were going crazy. The lights were on, diminishing the shadows, Whisper probably did that.
Metal Dragon raised her hand, and several metal spikes pointed themselves at Virgil's parents. He covered his mouth to stifle a gasp as the metal spikes were thrown towards the cornered couple.
Luckily, Noah was fast and created a wall of shadows to protect the two of them. Virgil took the opportunity of the distraction to sneak into the room, making his way towards a desk that was in the back.
He reached to grab the chair, hoping to use it as a weapon, when he felt his prosthetics freeze as if someone grabbed them. His heart leapt to his throat when he looked back to see Metal Dragon had a hand stretched towards him.
"Well, looks like the whole family's here," she said, turning to him.
Elastic stretched an arm to grab him, but Virgil grabbed the chair and hit her hand back before she did. He gasped when he felt his legs be pulled out under him, and he hit the ground hard.
"Dad!" he shouted, hoping for some backup.
The wall of shadows pushed out and knocked the four villains back, giving Virgil enough time to stand back up as Metal Dragon lost control on his prosthetics.
"Virgil, run!" Noah tried to warn, but Virgil ignored it.
He picked up the chair again and ran into the fight, knocking Whisper out first with one swing of the chair, which ended up breaking the legs off.
Noah cursed, and before Sophia could do anything he picked her up in a shadow bubble and moved her to the door.
"Get out of here, I'll deal with this!" Noah promised.
"What about-" Sophia tried to ask, but Noah closed the door on her so she wouldn't run back in. He knew she would try to join the fight, and he couldn't risk that.
CopyCat multiplied and went to attack Virgil, but one of the clones ended up being smacked in the face with the remainder of the chair. Virgil ducked before he was grabbed by another clone, and he rolled out of the way, grabbing two of the broken off legs.
Metal Dragon kept attacking Noah, but only managed to graze him while Elastic tried her best to keep him still without getting in Metal Dragon's way.
Noah was only half paying attention to his fight, since he was trying to figure out a way to get Virgil out of there safely. While his son was a good fighter, he was powerless with the collar on and was getting overwhelmed by CopyCat.
Virgil was able to keep them back for the most part, but he only had two short sticks to do so. He was being pushed back, and CopyCat kept multiplying.
Eventually, Virgil was surrounded. He was punched in the face, and while he was off balance another fist hit him in the stomach. He felt hands grab his arms, and he wasn't strong enough to get out of their grip. His makeshift weapons were pried out of his hands, and he was held tight in place. He kicked forward, but one of the clones grabbed his leg.
"Why don't we just get rid of this," the CopyCat clone said, grabbing the prosthetic and yanking it, tearing any of the straps that held it on.
"Hey!" Virgil shouted in protest as the leg was thrown away, only for Metal Dragon to catch it and twist it into another metal spike. He continued to struggle against their grip, although now it was harder since he was struggling to stay balanced as well.
The CopyCat clones let him go, allowing him to fall to the ground before they pinned him there. They held him against the ground, as another pulled off his remaining prosthetic.
"Let me go!" Virgil demanded, still struggling against their hold. "Dad!"
"Shit," Noah cursed. He gave up on avoiding the attacks targeted at him, and caused a wave of shadows to hit all of CopyCat's clones to push them off of Virgil.
Virgil sat up, only to see a metal spike pierce through his dad's shoulder.
Noah fell against the wall behind him with a shout of pain, before he used what little energy he had left to push all of the villains to the other side of the room.
He fell to the floor, but managed to pull out a small remote. He pressed the button on it and Virgil felt the collar unlock.
Wishing his father had done that sooner, Virgil tore the collar off and felt his powers rush back to him. He used the shadows around him to help himself stand up, though he was still unsteady.
He knew he couldn't fight the villains off, so he rushed to his fathers side and created a wall of shadows to protect the both of them.

Sophia ran towards the landline, she needed a phone. She dialed 9-1-1 as fast as she could and waited impatiently as the phone rang.
After what was an eternity to her, the emergency operator finally picked up and said, "9-1-1, what's your emergency?"
"Yes- please- they're attacking!" Sophia frantically yelled.
"Who's attacking?"
"The-the villains! Elastic, Whisper, Metal Dragon, CopyCat! All of them- they-" Sophia froze with a gasp when she felt a hand on her back. Then screamed when the electric pulse hit her hard.
"Hello? Hello?" the operator asked, silently panicking as Sophia went quiet.
The phone was hung up, back where it was. "You shouldn't have done that," Spark warned. "However, it's not going to change the outcome. You're coming with me."
