School had been canceled until further notice and there was a tight curfew ever since the attack. A notice had been sent out, telling everyone of the four intruders but nothing more and that their parents had all been contacted.
Many of the students were allowed to call their parents using school phones, some had asked to go home and others begged their parents to let them stay.
Currently, Roman was doing the latter. "Mom, I know you're scared but seriously, I'm fine," he told her. Remus was next to him, listening in on the conversation.
"I just don't feel like you're safe there. You're school was attacked sweetie," his mother said.
"They- they didn't kill anyone!"
"We were told one of the teachers was hurt. And almost everyone at that school has superpowers, so how did the teacher get hurt if the place was safe?"
"Like actual public schools are any safer," Remus said, leaning closer to the phone.
"Dr. Sanders is fine," Roman said. "It was just a small scratch! Besides, we really like this school and they're teaching us how to defend ourselves. I've learned so much here, it's the best school we've ever been to! Please mom, we're not ready to go home."
His mother was really silent on the other line. "Is it true that one of the students was kidnapped?"
"Where... where did you hear that from?"
"Roman, is it true?"
Roman looked up at Remus. "No, all of the students are safe. They have bunkers here to protect us from attacks, that's where we went during the attack. The students were completely safe, and the villains were driven off of campus and away."
Remus's eyes widened at the lies, but he didn't say anything.
"Okay, but during winter break you two are coming home. I don't care what you say, you will be home."
"Of course, we can't miss Christmas."
"And if anything else happens, you will be brought back home immediately. At the first sign of danger!"
"Okay."
"Okay... I really love you two. Stay safe, my sweet little heroes."
"We love you too."
"Yeah, love ya, mama," Remus agreed. "And we'll be safe."
"Okay, good bye, try to call again soon!"
"We will, good bye," Roman said, and he hung up the phone.
"What... the fuck?" Remus asked. "You lied to her?"
"Well if I didn't she would have brought us back home instantly! We can't go home until we know Virgil is okay."
"She's going to be so angry when she finds out!"
"Then we'll deal with that later. I don't care."
Remus didn't say anything for a moment, he was too shocked. Roman sounded genuinely angry, which was a rare sight to see, and not only that but he's a huge mommy's boy! He's terrified of disappointing her or making her angry!
"What are we even going to do while we're here?" Remus asked.
"I don't know, but I don't want to leave the others behind! Speaking of which, we should go see if they got ahold of their parents."
They walked out of the room they were in, a student quickly taking their place. There were a lot of students waiting for a chance to speak to their parents, several rooms had been set up for privacy and teachers were around watching to make sure everything went okay.
