Virgil poked at the vegetables, he really didn't have much of an appetite. He was still upset about  his talk earlier with Shadow, but he tried to consider his mothers feelings in this.

"Is everything okay, dear?" his mother asked when she noticed he wasn't eating.

Virgil nodded before looking up from his plate and at his father. "Where are we right now?"

"You shouldn't answer that," CopyCat advised. Virgil hated that the other four were eating dinner with them.

Shadow held up his hand to him, trying to tell him that it was okay. "We're in California, in the United States."

"Is there a specific reason why you came here?" Virgil asked.

"It's easy to escape your old life in California. Lots of open land, or lots of large cities."

"How did you meet mom?"

"What's with the questions?" Metal Dragon asked, slamming the table with her fist.

"I'm just trying to start a conversation, lady," Virgil snapped at her.

"I think it's sweet," Sophia said, putting her hand on Virgil's shoulder. When he turned to her, she mouthed a 'thank you.' She knew he was trying to talk to Shadow for her.

"We met in Chicago, actually," Shadow answered Virgil's question. "During... during work."

"Oh it's okay, you can say it," his mother said. "I was robbing a jewelry store, and he happened to come in and interrupted me with the intention of robbing the place."

Virgil's eyes widened. "You were robbing the place?"

Sophia laughed, "Yeah, you should have seen Noah's face when he realized he just walked into a robbery!"

"Well, I was bored, decided to do something small, then I saw you and you certainly were the highlight of my day," Shadow recalled with a laugh. "It was so ironic, and she certainly was beautiful as she pointed the gun at me."

"I'll admit, I was terrified. I mean, even then you were a big deal! To see you of all people walk in."

"I helped her empty the place and then took her out for dinner."

"Of course, we don't do that kind of stuff anymore. And I always expressed how much I hated it when he hurt innocents or civilians. I never planned to hurt anyone unless necessary in my robberies."

"There's a lot I don't know about you, apparently," Virgil said, mostly to himself. "You've certainly surprised me, mom."

"Your mother is an amazing woman," Noah admitted. "I retired for her, and she has made me softer, I'll admit."

The other four villains in the room glanced at each other, but stayed silent. Virgil noticed, but decided for his own safety to not say anything.

"Well, you don't need to be all evil and mean now that you've retired," Sophia pointed out. "And you have all the riches in the world to get whatever you desire."

"All I desire the most is my family to be safe and happy with me."

"We're getting there, dear. We just need to make a few adjustments. But we'll talk more about that later."

"What do we have?" Thomas asked as he walked into Mission Control with one of the team leaders.

"Well, we believe they're somewhere in California. That limo that we saw Mrs. Melany get into was traced there, and right now we're tracking down who rented it and where they went," the woman who had been in charge of the mission so far stated.

"Yeah, okay. What about helicopters, have there been any unknown helicopter sightings?"

"Not that I know of, but we'll track down any."

"Good, that could narrow down our search. We believe Mrs. Melany's son was taken to the same place as her."

"The kid that was recently kidnapped?"

"Yup, Virgil Melany." Thomas handed her the folder that held all of the information from the attack on the academy. "He's 16, disabled, black hair with purple tips. There's more information in here."

The woman in charge read the information. "Irish, missing his legs, got it. We'll look into it, put a BOLO on him. We already believe that they move often, if we can pin them down somewhere in California before they move again then we might be able to catch them this time."

"We're going to be looking for a mansion, somewhere that's big and where the occupants are not seen often. They probably doubled up their security since the attack on the academy."

"So what kind of plan of attack are you thinking?" the leader asked.

"What, me?"

"You're the senior here, you have more experience."

"Well, an invasion. Possibly during the day when there are less shadows for, well Shadow, to use. We can't have any fancy technology because of Whisper, and no metal because of Metal Dragon."

"What about CopyCat and Elastic?"

"There's not much we can do with those two, fighting those two is a numbers game. Well send in a large team, a team of ten or twenty of our best heroes, hopefully that will be enough. This is Shadow we're talking about, so I'm sure we can get that to be approved."

"Any specific heroes you want?"

"Patton's parents- I mean the Beast and Waterman."

"You've been hanging out with those kids a lot."

"Well I am a teacher. The Beast could sniff out Virgil, and hopefully that will lead us to Mrs. Melany. And she always comes with Waterman, so he can help against Whisper's tech. Get into the circuits and fry everything, or just use high pressure attacks."

"I'll send the request to the higher ups. Those two have been on hold for this mission anyway."

"I just hope everything goes okay."

"I'm sure it will. We'll polish up the plan after we pin down a location."
