In the Old Testament we can see that a temple was built for the Lord. Solomon received from David the blueprint of what that would be like. There it was divided into three parts: Atrium, Lugar Santo and Santo dos santos. (1 Chronicles 28: 1-21; 1 Kings 6: 1-38)
In the Holy of Holies, the high priest entered only once a year. (Hebrews 9:28) But through Jesus, today the veil has been torn, and we are free to enter the Holy of Holies. (Matthew 27: 51-52) Today we can be close to the Father whenever we want, just enter his room in secret and pick him up. (Matthew 6: 6)
