*SamBucky on mission*

"Who knew kidnapping Captain America would be this easy?"

The group of thugs laughed loudly. They had captured the new Cap quite easily. His sidekick was even easier to deal with. One hit on the head and he was out. That pestering little robot bird did put up a good fight though. But it ultimately retreated after being sprayed with water. It maybe built of a tough metal, but it was still just a bunch of electrical wires.

"What do you want from us?"

Sam struggled against the tight restraints. The one time Sam doesn't wear his overdramatic suit, he gets kidnapped. Great. More taunting content for Bucky.

"Nothing much, Captain. We just want money. Some of those beautiful greens that you have people showering over you."

Sam rolled his eyes. He had to work stupid cases like these in order to get paid. Bucky made more than him as a bounty hunter. It's been so long that they'd worked together. Bucky wanted the man leading this group, and Sam was in charge to make sure this group didn't cause much damage. Yeah, look at how that's going.

"I don't know what you think about me, but I have like 50 dollars in my bank account. Having nephews is expensive."

The leader glared at Sam. Sam shrugged and added, "I'm broke, man. Let me borrow 20 dollars. Like I said, nephews are expensive as fuck."

"You're making fun of us? We will tell you what's expensive."

Sam shrugged. Bucky was tied up next to him. His head was tilted downwards and his eyes were tightly closed. But it was Bucky. So Sam didn't really care. He knew they'd be out of that damp garage whenever his grumpy asshole of a partner wanted.

One of the idiots decided to slap Sam causing his lip to split open and bleed.

Big mistake.

Before the guy could even open his mouth to gloat Sam, there was knife pressed against his throat.

"Who gave you the audacity to touch him?"

Sam grinned. He knew Bucky was acting the entire time. The former assassin wasn't that easy of a target. If they got kidnapped, it's because Bucky allowed it. Sam would sometimes get distracted and loose sight of his surroundings, but not Bucky. He'd only seen one other person be this vigilant. No, now wasn't the time to get sad. She'd smack him if she knew in how stupid of a situation he'd gotten in.

The thugs had trained their guns at Bucky, who didn't even flinch. He kept the knife tightly pressed against the throat of the thug he held captive.

"Kill him. Let's see you kill him, Barnes."

A voice came from behind the thugs. They moved aside creating a part in the middle to reveal the man in the suit. Sam didn't know the man and he didn't have to. The smug smile on his lips and Bucky's tensed up form was more than a clear indication of who this man was. Someone who Bucky knew from his HYDRA days. A ghost from his past.

Shit. Sam wasn't the target. Bucky was.

Sam hadn't used Redwing that much when he was being kidnapped because he was taken by surprise. He and Bucky were just walking to get some fresh air after having stayed up the entire night trying to figure out another case they were working at the same time.

Sam knew that his muscle memory wouldn't betray him. He used his smart watch to call for Redwing and give him one particular instruction.  Sam knew there would be carnage. He just hoped he wouldn't have nightmares from them and that he could help Bucky if the former assassin had any.
