(So....I mention Zemo and Bucky in an intimate way in this chapter, but it's for the angst, I don't actually ship them. I feel guilty, buttttttt angst, so... .)
Zemo looked at the man and told him to bring them in. The men entered shortly after.
Bucky looked up to look at them. They all looked like they could handle any threat but one man interested Bucky more than the others. The man stepped in front of the others and introduced himself to Zemo.
"I'm Sam Wilson. And I'm in charge of the team you asked for."
Zemo nodded and gestured towards Bucky with his head.
"You will have to protect him, Mr. Wilson. I need you to keep an eye on him 24/7 but let him have his privacy."
"Sure, sir." Sam replied.
"You may take a seat and have breakfast with us." Zemo gestured at the table. The bodyguards hesitated and looked at each other.
"Please, I insist." Zemo said.
The five men sat down on the opposite side of Bucky. They helped themselves to the food laid out.
This made Bucky like Zemo a little. But of course it was just the first day. He could be acting for all Bucky knew.
*****************
Throughout the day, Zemo hadn't disturbed Bucky and neither did the guards. They were all posted outside his room. Bucky spent his day cooped up in his room reading classics. Zemo had a lot of good books in his library that Bucky was given full access to.
He looked up at the digital wall clock. It said 23:00. He put his book down and decided to leave the room and see what the people were upto. When he opened the door, he was greeted by Sam Wilson.
"Hello, sir."
Bucky didn't respond as he began walking towards the kitchen. Sam didn't try to talk to him again. Bucky was looking around the house, more like a mansion. Sam followed him around.
The silence was broken by Zemo. "Hello, James. I see you're in need of a tour guide."
"No."
Zemo wasn't expecting such a blunt rejection. He stood there without a word. Bucky began walking again. Sam followed. Bucky contemplated walking faster just to fuck with his bodyguard but decided against it. When he was done looking around the ground floor, he turned to Sam and asked, "Where are the others of your team?"
"They're resting, sir."
"Where?"
"In the room next to you, sir."
"Do you have guns?"
"We have everything we need to protect you, sir."
"Do you have guns or not, man?"
"Yes we do."
"Good."
Sam didn't know how to feel about the man he was supposed to protect. He didn't look like he needed protection. He was really well built.
"Staring is rude, Mr. Wilson."
Great, now he thinks Sam's a creep.
"I'm sorry, si-"
"Bucky. You can call me Bucky."
"I'm sorry, Bucky. I was zoned out."
Bucky raised his eyebrow. Bucky didn't mind being checked out by Sam. He found the man attractive. So Bucky was really interested in finding out how he would get out of the awkward situation.
"You know that as a guard, you should always be alert?"
"I'm alert, si-Bucky."
"Are you though?" Bucky moved closer to Sam. Their faces were inches away. Sam didn't back down as he answered clearly, "Yes."
"Then why do I have your phone, Sam?"
The way Sam's name rolled off Bucky's tongue was like butter on a hot skillet. Sam blinked once before he looked at Bucky's hand. He was indeed holding Sam's phone, but how? He didn't even feel a hand slide into his pocket.
Bucky handed it back to Sam. He then turned around and went upstairs, Sam followed him. They saw Zemo standing in front of Bucky's room. Bucky's fists clenched, he guessed why Zemo was there. Of course.
"Would you like to watch a movie, James?"
Bucky was taken aback. He didn't expect Zemo to want to just watch a movie. Maybe he was just saying that because he didn't want to make the actual request in front of the bodyguard. Bucky knew that his stay at the mansion came at a price. So he agreed by nodding his head. Zemo's eyes lit up. He eagerly led the supersoldier into a nearby room.
Sam felt awkward following them around. The situation was evident to him. Sam asked hesitantly when they were right in front of the door, "Should I stay outside?"
"Yes." Zemo answered.
*************
Zemo had really wanted to just watch a movie. He didn't make any sudden moves or requests and had fallen asleep halfway through the movie, so Bucky turned the TV off and quietly left the room. Sam was standing outside, as expected.
"Will you not sleep?"
Sam shook his head. "Someone has to be alert all the time."
"I think we already established that you aren't very alert, Sam." Bucky chuckled. His chuckle made Sam feel weird. Sam mentally chided himself. This man was his client. His job.
"That won't happen again."
"You sure about that?" Bucky began to move closer to Sam and he stepped back. Bucky smirked and moved closer. For some reason Sam Wilson intrigued him. Bucky stopped once he was standing in front of his door. He pushed it open with his right arm and entered it. He winked at Sam before closing the door.
Sam sighed. His work was going to be very very difficult.
******************
It had been about a month since Sam started to work for Baron Zemo. Every time Sam had the night shift, Bucky's advances would grow bolder. Sam found himself flirting back. During the day, however, they didn't talk at all. On one of those nights, Bucky told Sam how he liked his coffee, and ever since then, Sam would bring Bucky his coffee.
Sam didn't have the night shift last night, so he woke up fresh and ready to start the day. He got dressed and grabbed a cup of coffee for Bucky. He relieved Jackson of his night shift and was about to knock on Bucky's door when he heard it. The moans were loud and clear. Sam's heart sunk. Of course.
He decided to wait. After about 5 minutes the door opened. Zemo got out, his hair dishevelled.
"Good morning, Sam."
"Good morning, sir."
Zemo walked into his own and Sam stood there contemplating whether or not to enter the room.
"Come on in, Sam." Bucky called out.
