(So, this chapter is long cause I got carried away and tried to cram in a lot.)
Sam quickly got out of bed and opened the door. Bucky was standing there leaning against the wall. Sam raised his eyebrow at Bucky.

"I am to stay here till Zemo calls for me. Dylan and Josh are guarding the basement door. Did you know they worked for HYDRA?"

Sam shook his head, "No of course not. So HYDRA is real? I honestly thought that HYDRA and the Winter Soldiers were just a legend. Something they told in camps and bases as scary story."

"God, I wish it was just a scary legend. But it's not."

Sam lightly massaged his temple, "Well it's not completely unbelievable, given that I was neighbours with Captain America at some point and we've had alien invasions and apparently, Nordic gods are just aliens. HYDRA and you are probably the more tamer things currently happening."

Bucky chuckled. "Oh trust me, there's more surprise for you."

"What?"

"Captain America and I used to be childhood best friends. He's the one who helped me break out of my brainwashing."

"Okay, There's clearly a lot more that can faze me."

"Hmm. Yeah."

"So uh, who brought me here?"

"I did."

Sam waited for Bucky to elaborate. But Bucky just stared at the hallway in front of them. Zemo's 'basement' was an entire floor with multiple rooms.

Bucky turned to Sam and said, "They're going to freeze me again. I'm not sure when, but I know it's going to be as soon as Zemo's done with me. And to think that I felt bad for him for a moment. You still have the pendrive in your pocket, no matter what, do not loose it. I don't know what they will try to do with you. You might be in trouble. That pendrive should help you should push come to shove."

"What's in it?"

"Proof that Zemo hired me to kill a certain powerful man. Along with information of everyone else who has hired me. There's a lot of powerful people who would give you anything you ask for in exchange for that information. So keep it safe."

"But they'll also damn you. Why would you give it to me?"

"You remind me of him."

"Who?"

"Steve. You're not exactly like him or anything. But you're very similar, maybe that's why I got attached to you. Or maybe it's because for whatever reason I found solace in chatting with you when my brain wouldn't let me sleep. I know you've known me for just a month, but helping you get out of this situation feels like a duty."

Sam stared at Bucky, who had once again returned to staring at the hallway. Sam knew Steve, he didn't think he himself was similar to the supersoldier, but if Bucky thought so..Sam remembered Steve talking about a certain Bucky and how much he missed him.

And there's no point to reporting me to the police because technically I died in the 1940s, Sam.

"How did you die?"

"Fell off a train while fighting."

Bucky didn't even turn. Sam remembered Steve telling him that. But what if he was lying.

"You could have read that in a museum."

"What?"

"Sargeant James Buchanan Barnes was Steve's childhood friend. There's an entire section of the Captain America museum that is dedicated to him. How do I know you're not lying about being Sargeant Barnes?"
