Chapter 6: One More Down, 13 Left

(Kibum)

Kibum cautiously made his way to the lake, making sure no one else was there. He quickly filled up his bottle and climbed up a tree as he heard voices coming closer and closer to him. About 3 or 4 voices.

"Heres the lake." Kibum saw Leeteuk splash some water onto his dry, dirty face.

"Hangeng you doing okay?" Heechul asked, helping Hangeng sit down. Kibum nearly gasped out loud, what had had happened to his leg? It was bandaged, but there was still some blood seeping through.

"Who do you think did it?" Kangin asked, voicing Kibum's question.

Heechul grunted, "Could be anyone. Anyone but Zhoumi, that is."

So they were the ones who killed him! Kibum wanted to scream. How could they turn on their friends this quickly!

"That was a great shot, by the way, Kangin." Heechul complimented him.

You. Kangin, how could you. Kibum thought with so much loathing, how could he throw away their friendship like that?

"Who else do you think will die today?" Leeteuk asked, Kibum detected a sad, vacant look in his eyes.

"Who knows?" Kangin asked, "Maybe no one at all." Kibum could tell that if he had to kill again today, he didn't want to do it. The loathing he felt for his hyung suddenly disappeared.

"Shh I hear something." Leeteuk shushed them.

"Theres the lake!" They could hear Sungmin's voice saying happily.

"Yea, I see it now! Thank god!" That was Yesung.

Go, run. Now. Kibum thought desperately, Or they will kill you. But they continued walking, "Coast is clear." Sungmin announced. Leeteuk, Kangin, Heechul, and Hangeng had taken cover by hiding behind a bush.

"How do you think Hangeng's doing?" Yesung asked. Kibum could see the shock register on the four who were hiding behind the bushes faces. Shit. He thought.

"He's not dead yet. I ... I...." Kibum silently finished his hyungs sentence, Don't want him to die.

From where he was up in the tree, Kibum could see Leeteuk aiming his gun at Yesung, No No No Run! Kibum wanted to scream, but for his own survival and safety, he couldn't. He could see the scared look in Leeteuk's eyes, his shaking hands, the tears that were running down his cheeks as he pushed the trigger.

"RUN!" Kibum screamed, unable to hold it back any longer. And then several things happened at once. Yesung fell to the ground, clutching his wound while Sungmin fretted over what had happened. And all of them, Yesung and Sungmin and Kangin and Leeteuk and Heechul and Hangeng, looked up into the tree where Kibum's voice had come from.

Great. He thought, Just great.

Kibum slid down the tree and brandished his knife at the four, protecting Sungmin and Yesung who were behind him, but all he had was a knife and they had guns, swords, knives, arrows, and spears.

"Yesung was the one who shot me yesterday?" Hangeng asked, a blank look on his face.

No one answered, though they all knew it was true, "Go." Kibum said, "Leave."

"Alone? Ally-less?" Kangin asked Kibum, angering him and causing him to scream and attack Kangin, who got a small scratch before finding safety behind Heechul's back.

"Shut up." Kibum growled. He had no idea what he was feeling now, a mixture of love and hate.

(Yesung)

Yesung could feel his breath slowing down, "Sung-min-" he panted, just the name was an effort for him to say, he knew no one could hear him except for Kibum and Sungmin, who were near enough, "I - have - this- gun, I - can -try, to...to..scare them. You...take Kibum....and run off....and I'll....try to shoot them..."

"Yeye no I can't just leave you!" Sungmin cried.

"Do it.... please...."

"Okay." Sungmin sobbed.

Yesung smiled, "And...Minnie...? I ... love .... you."

"I love you too hyung." Sungmin wiped his tears and nodded to Kibum, who had heard the plan. Sungmin gave Yesung a lingering kiss, "I wish I had done that before."

"Me too." Yesung smiled again, "Now go. On the count of three. 1, 2, 3!"

(Kangin)

Suddenly Kibum and Sungmin shot off like rockets, running so fast that in less than a minute they had disappeared into the thick woods. He started running, following them, but then a bullet grazed his arm.

Yesung.

Yesung shot again, this time he missed him completely, "One death is enough for today." he said, "Please."

"I'm sorry Yeye." Leeteuk shook his head and turned to Heechul, "Find them." Heechul ran into the woods, following Sungmin and Kibum.

Leeteuk sat down beside him and took hold of his hand. How strange we are. Kangin thought. To act to loving and yet to act like we hate each other at the same time. "Do you want me to end it for you quick?" Leeteuk asked.

"No." Yesung wheezed, "I want to die like this."

Leeteuk nodded.

Heechul came running back, "Can't find them."

Hangeng closed his eyes, "They're gone."

(Leeteuk)

That night, the cannon fired as Yesung drew his last breath. Leeteuk hugged the youngers body and went his way with his allies, so the hovercraft could collect Yesung's body. Not long after, his picture and district number 14 flashed in the sky. Leeteuk knew that somewhere, Sungmin and Kibum were mourning.

(Kyuhyun)

"Yesung's dead." He announced, sitting back down as the anthem ended.

Ryeowook shook his head sadly, "I wish we knew who did it."

"So you could take revenge on that person?" Kyuhyun asked.

"Nah, I just wanna know which coward dared kill his friend. Same as which coward killed Zhoumi." Ryeowook said.

Kyuhyun smiled, "My baby's getting more confident."

"Your hyungie's getting more annoyed." Shindong announced, taking yet another cracker.

"Ration the food, won't you?" Kyuhyun scolded.

"I'll try, but we're still gonna have to go hunting tomorrow." Shindong shrugged.

Kyuhyun sighed, with Shindong around, he and Ryeowook couldn't go any further than kissing. But then again, there were people watching them throughout the entire nation. But still, they would have appreciated some love.

Romance in the games, and then seeing it get torn apart. Oh yes, how fun.
