Chapter 31: Explosions

(Eunhyuk)

      Eunhyuk closed his eyes as the ceiling above the peacekeepers exploded and the shattered pieces fell on top of them. Surprisingly, nothing happened to the staircase where he and Onew were hiding. 

        "See? I told you?" Onew said happily, "Let's go!" They ran down the staircase. 

        "And how on earth are we supposed to get past all this rubble?" Eunhyuk asked. 

        Onew looked at him as if he were an anchovy, "We walk of course." he said as he began picking his way through the rubble. Here and there, a peacekeeper's leg or arm stuck out of the rubble, Eunhyuk shuddered and followed Onew. Halfway through, something suddenly grabbed at his leg, and just like that, his body crashed forward. The broken pieces of the ceiling scraped his skin and made him bleed.

        "Eunhyuk!" Onew called in panic, he came running back and tried to haul Eunhyuk onto his feet, but the peacekeeper that had caught hold of his leg was not letting go. Onew swore and moved towards the hand holding onto his friend, he pried and hit the hand but it did not let go, somewhere beneath the rubble, a voice said, "Wanted - criminal - rebel -" 

        "Hyuk, this is gonna hurt," Onew announced as he lifted his gun. 

        "Hold on - wait a minute - what are you gonna - stop!" Eunhyuk blubbered in panic as Onew shot at the peacekeepers hand. The bullet hit the peacekeeper's hand, though it did do some damage to Eunhyuk's foot too. 

        "Here." Onew gave his gun for Eunhyuk to carry before lifting him up as easily as if he were a baby. He carried Eunhyuk carefully over the rest of the rubble into the room with the secret tunnel and they were greeted with cheers.

        Onew, Eunhyuk decided, was a maniac.

(Kyuhyun) 

        Kyuhyun watched as the whole of District 12 jumped into the tunnel one by one, he stood guard with his friends until the very last person jumped in, and then it was their turn, they followed with big smiles of success on their face, "Come on Henry! You're the last person! Let's go!" Shindong called, he was eager to get back to the rebels quarters to rest up. 

        Instead of an answer there was a terrible gunshot, a scream, and Henry's body fell through the entrance to the tunnel and hit the floor with a hard bang.

(Ryeowook) 

       Ryeowook looked around the room unhappily, Heechul's condition had not improved. It seemed like the Doctors were right, he did not want to get better. He wanted to die.

        "I want to die too." Donghae said mournfully, "I just know that something bad has happened to Hyukkie." 

        "They'll be back soon." But Ryeowook's words did not agree with his thoughts.

        "They won't be happy when they see Chullie in this condition." Kangin shook his head, trying to get the image out of his head. 

        "I'm gonna go visit him again." Ryeowook decided, getting up, he already knew no one was going to join him. He slowly walked down the corridor towards the hospital. He suddenly heard footsteps behind him and he turned around. When he saw who it was he felt angry, it was that Wendy girl that had kissed Kyuhyun. 

        "You." he said, clenching his fists.

        Wendy stared at him as though he were a little toy, "I don't see why Kyuhyun would prefer you over me." 

        "Huh?" 

        "I mean, first of all, you're a boy, and you look weak." 

        "And you look snobbish." Ryeowook retorted.

        "Asshole," the girl laughed rudely as she walked forward and twisted his arm, Ryeowook gave a yell of pain and twisted back. He twisted and twisted even when the girl was already crying. No one touched his Kyuhyun. He twisted until there was a snap and her arm was bent at a strange angle, only then did he let go. She used her good arm to cradle the broken one and whimpered. 

        "Never." Ryeowook snarled, "Bother me and Kyuhyun again."

(Henry)

        Henry did not know what had happened, he was about to jump when there was suddenly a loud bang and something hit his back and then he fell forward, toppling right into the tunnel. 

(Luhan)

        Luhan quickly pulled out a first aid kit and treated the wound as best as he could, "This is way too advanced for me, this is the best I can do until we get him back to the Hospital." 

        "Luhan." Leeteuk said slowly.

        "What?"

        "There's a hospital right up there." Leeteuk pointed. 

        "And you think there are Doctors?" Luhan asked, "I mean, there were, but they've all walked forward." Luhan pointed. 

        "If we get one back it'll still be quicker. And we can get a hovercraft to come pick us up here. We can set guards around the door in case any peacekeeper survived." 

        "Not safe." Luhan said.

        "This is about Henry's life!" Leeteuk yelled, "Someone run forward and bring back a doctor!" 

        Kyuhyun quickly ran towards the big swarm of people and managed to find three Doctor's. 

        "Now how do we get him up?" Luhan asked sarcastically. 

        "Tao." Leeteuk said. 

        "What?" 

        "He said Tao!" Shindong repeated, "Tao can carry Henry and jump right up!" 

        "That's ridiculous! Tao's all the way in front with Kris and Chen isn't he?" Luhan snorted, but he took out his communication device and called for Tao. 

        It took Tao 15 minutes to run all the way back to them, "What?" he panted, his eyes fell on Henry, "Oh." he understood what he had to do. He lifted Henry up and once again he leaped right back into the Hospital even with Henry in his arms. The Doctors followed up quickly with the tributes right on their heels. As Leeteuk said, Henry's life was in danger.

(Heechul) 

        Heechul's eyes were half open when Ryeowook's face suddenly appeared in front of him and his voice said, "Hyung? I can see that you're awake." 

        Heechul did not answer. 

        "Hyung do you really want to die now?"

        Yes. Heechul thought. 

        "Don't you want to avenge Hangeng hyung first?" 

        That caught Heechul's attention. Now this is something worth listening to. 

        "Help us win the country, for our friends that died. And then I promise you hyung, that if you want to join Hangeng hyung in death, I won't stop you." 

        Heechul opened his eyes, "Alright, but then I want to die."
