Chapter 27: Suicide

"Hyung! Please come out!" Ryeowook called, knocking on the door for what seemed like the thousandth time since they had gotten back.

"Hyung!" Donghae joined in, "Hyung!"

"I might be able to help you with that." Lay said, coming up behind them, "I might've picked up a few skills from my master lock picker."

"Who is he?" Donghae asked.

"Luhan, he taught me a bit, and I think I might have gotten the hang of it."

It took Lay exactly fifteen minutes before he could pick the lock, "Good, much better than last time." Lay said, looking pleased with himself.

"How long does it take Luhan to do it?" Donghae asked excitedly.

"5 seconds to a minute." Lay replied, proud of his skilled friend, "Now lets go see how Heechul is."

They stepped into the room and Ryeowook let out a high pitched scream at what he saw. Heechul's eyes were glassy and he was lying on the floor in a pool of blood and a knife in his hand.

"Get him to the infirmary now!" Lay shouted for his guards.

Leeteuk was the next to slide down the rope after Luhan. It was about 6 meters long, and when Leeteuk landed Luhan gave him a thumbs up, "Ready to get going? Oi! Hurry up!" he called to the others and Chen came sliding down, "Don't rush." Chen muttered.

"Lets go." Luhan said once they had all come down, "Kris, you wanna lead? You have the map."

"And there's only one way out so we don't really need the map for this part of the goddamned journey, we just continue walking until we see the end of the tunnel, done!"

"Lead anyway, me and Teukie here will take the back."

The other tributes sent Leeteuk curious looks as he followed Luhan to the back of the group. They started to walk in silence, on and on and on, until Kris broke the silence by saying, "Just so you know, we are walking across half of District 14 and across all of 13, so we will be in this tunnel for at least 2 days, depending on how fast you walk." and then everything went quiet once more.

"Worried?" Luhan whispered to Leeteuk after a while.

"Why should I be?" Leeteuk whispered back.

"Hey you can talk to me, I may be only a few years older than you but I've seen a lot in this world, a lot of hurt, a lot of heartbreak." Luhan looked at Leeteuk pointedly.

Leeteuk just shrugged.

"You're worried that Kangin and Heechul will fight when you're not there." Luhan told him.

Leeteuk was taken by suprise, "How did you know?"

"I can tell." Luhan grinned childishly despite the situation, "Don't worry man, they'll be perfectly fine."

"Is Heechul hyung okay?" Ryeowook cried the moment the Doctor came out of the room.

She shook her head gravely, "We don't know for sure."

"Did he ... do it himself?" Donghae asked quietly.

The Doctor nodded, "He was trying to commit suicide." her voice was sad, as a Doctor for the rebels, she must have seen a lot of hurt and pain in the world.
