Things I recommend knowing before reading this book is in bold.

------------------------------------------------------

Hi there, I'm NetDude and this is my monster Buffyverse fanfiction, 'The Male Slayer'. Before reading, there are some things you may want to know about just exactly you're getting into here. I've laid it all out in this short introduction which will only take a minute or so to read.

This book is split into Parts, consisting of anywhere between three to eight chapters within them. As of writing this introduction, I'm currently partway through writing Part Seven, however the plan is for at least Twenty-Two parts. Think of them as episodes rather than parts, as it's a good way to separate the individual stories of the parts into their own sections.

The idea of the book is to create a tight group of characters, with a strong lead character. Thus, a lot of these early parts are character building for James and his team. Some are based around episodes of the actual shows, so I recommend having seen all of both Buffy and Angel (although Angel isn't essential, more recommended.) The book's tone will shift dramatically as the story goes on, as a lot of the early parts are more darker, with less humour. Things will unravel and the story will be told, I just hope that all readers are patient with it.

One of my favourite things about the show, that isn't talked about much, is the surprise aspect. Anything can happen at any moment, and I love that. So, a warning for this novel, anyone can die... at any point. It does follow the outline of the show, so characters that aren't dead before the end of Buffy or Angel, are obviously not able to die. However, once both shows have finished in the canon of the novel, like I said before, anything can happen.

The idea of the novel is not to undermine the feministic nature of the show, but rather a fun side-story that develops alongside it, and continues once on after the conclusion of the show. I know this is a presumptuous thing to say, but with the creation of a Male Slayer, I don't wish for anyone to think this was my intention, as it is far from it.

The early parts are centred around James and his relationship with the Watcher's Council, however the later parts are based on James and his team (no spoilers for who's involved), who work in a new investigation branch of the newly developed Watcher's Council after it's destruction in Season 7. With how many characters are in the Buffyverse, who knows just what characters will walk in searching for some investigation help?

Thank you for reading my book, and, don't forget, all comments, constructive criticism, and votes are appreciated and acknowledged.
