That following day, James took a little trip over town to the Angel Investigations HQ. Walking in, he took note of how dim the place was. James opened the office door slowly and peeked in. He then strolled in after realising that nobody was home. "Some business."

James decided now would be a good time to snoop around and see what he could find. After exploring the offices and not finding much to work from, he headed downstairs.

The basement of the place was much bigger than the offices. James raised his eyebrows at the size of the basement apartment. He remained quiet in case someone was still around. James moved to the kitchen and began looking through the cabinets and drawers, not finding much. He then absentmindedly opened the fridge, uncovering a decent supply of blood packets.

James put two and two together; the dim offices, the basement apartment, blood in the fridge. This 'Angel' was a vampire. "I might have to do your job for you, Faith." James muttered to himself, walking towards the stairs to head out again. However, he stopped dead once he heard voices.

"She's coming for me. I've got a fight coming up, I don't want you to get in the way." a brooding male voice said, startling James.

"I thought we were a team." a snooty voice chimed in.

"We're not a team. I'm your boss, you go where I tell you and I tell you to lay low." the first voice replied.

"This guy's an asshole." James muttered to himself, zoning out of their conversation momentarily to glance around the apartment for a way out.

"Did she do something to Buffy?"

James immediately spun his head back around to face up the stairs again, hearing Buffy's name.

"Giles just said it was rough." the brooding voice explained.

"Who the hell are these people?" James said quietly, spotting a way further down across the other side of the room. He moved towards it, looking down the hatch and saw that it led down to a sewer system. Suddenly, he heard someone enter the elevator and begin to head down.

James moved quickly but quietly into a blind spot of the room. Situated behind the comfy-looking chair, he listened as he heard the elevator door open and someone exit it. James peered over the top of the chair, spotting a tall and muscular man walking into the kitchen, his back to James. He leaned down and opened the fridge, taking out a packet of blood.

"Hello Angel." James whispered to himself.

Angel stopped and glanced over to the chair. James ducked just in time, Angel thought nothing of it and shut the fridge door. James peered back over the chair, watching on in disgust as Angel's face morphed into that familiar disfigured vampire look and he bit into the packet, sucking all the blood from it in seconds.

Angel headed across to one of the rooms that James never had time to explore. He took this as his opportunity to leave. James crept to the sewer entrance and headed down.

That night, just as the sun had set, James was standing across the street from Angel's building. He had come to the conclusion now that keeping an eye on Angel would surely lead him back to Faith.

Angel exited the building, wearing a rather dashing suit, and got into his car. James kept his distance, observing as he drove off down the street. James sprinted after him, hot on his tail. After a while, James knew from the surroundings where they were going; Wolfram & Hart.

Once Angel arrived at the law firm's building, he headed inside. James waited outside for Angel, figuring that walking back in there after last time would be a bad decision.
