James heard noises in the sky above him, and he looked up without hesitation, preparing to face some demon attempting to surprise attack him. Yet, like the other dozen times he had heard noises and looked up, there was nothing there.
Walking along the crags of his surroundings, James spotted a distant mass miles ahead of him. He squinted to make it out, and whatever it was was definitely blue; a pale and unmistakeable blue. James broke out into a sprint, watching his footing on the rocks as he did so.
About twenty minutes later, James reached the blue jungle in front of him, his face lit up with delight at finding a new setting to explore. "Maybe Marcie and Doyle are in here?" he thought to himself hopefully.
James lifted one leg in preparation of walking into the jungle before hearing a voice call his name from afar.
"James!"
He looked up and saw a group of figures running in his direction along the borderline of the jungle. James knew it was Marcie's voice he had heard, but there were far more bodies in the group than just their team members.
James began to run to the group to meet them in the middle and as he approached them, he recognised Riley almost instantly. "Fancy running into you here."
"James, are you alright?" Doyle asked, staggering slightly after the exhausting sprint.
"Are you?" James returned, earning a chuckle from Doyle. He patted James on the back lightly.
"Nice to see you again, Slayer." Riley told him, putting out his hand for a handshake, which James accepted.
"Riley Finn, of all the gin joints in the world..." James quipped, as the handshake ended. "I take it you had something to do with rescuing Oz here?" James asked, motioning to the now-human werewolf.
Marcie stepped forward, "Actually, that was all me." she announced, proudly.
"We just killed a giant worm, that's all." Riley replied, sarcastically.
"Actually, that was me as well." Marcie corrected him, earning a glare from the soldier.
James noticed one face in the group that he didn't recognise, "And who's this?" he asked.
"Oh, hi!" Samantha greeted, moving in front of her husband to introduce herself, "Samantha Finn."
James smiled widely and looked at Riley with amusement, "Oh, really?"
"The prospect of me marrying somebody seems to be a hilarious joke that I don't get." Riley said, rolling his eyes.
"What brings the happy couple to this beautiful and romantic Hell dimension?" James asked.
"That's classified." Riley replied, folding his arms.
"Oh come on, sweetie. Maybe they just wanna help?" Samantha suggested, looking over at James expectantly.
"I'd have to consult with the rest of the team first, but-" James began, looking at the others.
"No need, let's do it." Doyle interrupted, putting one arm around Riley's shoulder and his other around Samantha's.
James turned to Oz, "If we do this, you sit out this time." James instructed.
Marcie stepped forward, insulted, "James, he's our strongest asset. You can't just pick and choose who you want to fight."
Oz put his hand on Marcie's shoulder, "It's fine, he just doesn't want another wolf chase on his hands. I understand."
James nodded to Oz, followed by a strong glare at Marcie. "Are we killing something, Riley?" he asked, before turning to face the soldier.
