"What do you mean there's a new one?"

"I mean, there's a new slayer!"

"But neither slayer has died, how the hell can there be a new one!?"

"I don't know, but we better send a watcher over there! Even more so to investigate rather than train her!"

Episode I: In Every Generation...

Sunvalley, Scotland

James found himself running down the street once again to catch the bus. Despite the fact that it was the middle of September, it was pouring down with rain in the North-East of Scotland.

James kept muttering curse words under his breath as he saw the bus start to pull away just as he was about to reach it. Eventually, it drove off, leaving James at the bus stop, having to walk to school, absolutely soaking wet, "Fantastic."

James managed to somehow make it to school on time, he was in his final year of high school, so to him, it felt like the final year of a prison sentence. James entered the building but it wasn't long before he was stopped.

"McDonald." a rather tall and well built student said, standing in front of James.

"Hello Robert, lovely day isn't it?" James answered, politely yet sarcastically.

"You really think you're off the hook after last night? Next time I see you, you're dead!" Robert whispered into James' face.

Robert was referencing an incident that occurred at a local pub the previous evening that had ended with him covered in beer after being shoved accidentally by James trying to make his way to the bathroom. Robert, despite being a bully, wasn't as intimidating to James as he seemed to be to everyone else, however that was more because of James' lack of fear rather than Robert treating him any differently.

"I look forward to it, Robert." James said as he backed away to anywhere but here, "It's a date!"

The rest of the school day went by slowly but satisfyingly packed full of things to do. James spent most of the day either sitting bored in classes that stretched on forever or sitting in the music department's storage closet playing guitar, as to avoid being caught and scolded by the teachers for using school property outside of class time, but also partly because he enjoyed the quiet for concentration purposes.

James managed to get the bus home and upon entering his house, he dropped his backpack on the floor and walked into the kitchen where his parents were. His Mother, Michelle, was washing dishes in the sink, whilst his Dad, Marty, sat at the kitchen table, reading some sort of instruction manual.

"Afternoon James, get up to any bother?" his Dad asked him, smiling at the return of his son.

"If you call writing words and playing guitar all day bother, then I'm guilty." James said, confusedly staring at the same instruction manual his Father was looking at.

"It's an Ikea bookcase, bloody thing is a piece of junk." His Dad said, noticing his son's interest.

"Oh please Marty, it's not that bad, I'll even do it if you like?" Mary answered.

"No, no, no, I've got it, don't worry." Marty said to his wife, irritated by how complicated the instructions were. "You can help me if you like, James?" Marty asked.

"Yeah sure, how about after school tomorrow? We'll make it a fun project or something." James responded, leaving the kitchen to head up the stairs.

"Tomorrow afternoon it is!" Marty shouted after his son.
