James opened his eyes slightly, and then instantly sat up. He looked around, expecting to see the wine cellar, but instead found himself in a familiar room, the sunlight shining through the window. "Dawn?" he asked, looking around.
"Yeah?" she replied, on the floor.
"Dawn? Why are you on the floor?" James questioned, looking down at her.
"Well, you got the bed considering you're kind of crippled." Dawn told him.
"I'm a Slayer, I heal quickly." James said, "What time is it?"
"About twelve-thirty, I didn't get much sleep considering." Dawn answered, sitting up.
James leapt out of the bed and headed for the door, his leg feeling incredibly better than the last time he tried to walk on it. "Considering you were on the floor?"
"And since nearly everyone's leaving to go find some weapons that those Bringer things are using." Dawn finished.
"What made Buffy think that was a good idea?" James asked, mainly to himself than Dawn. He turned to leave the room.
"It was Faith's idea, Buffy's not around." Dawn said, lying back down.
James stopped and turned back, watching the other side of the bed carefully, where Dawn's head had disappeared behind when she lay down. "Not around?"
"Well she was kinda jumping the gun and putting us at risk, don't ya think?" Dawn replied, sitting back up to look at James.
James shook his head, "God damn it." he mumbled.
He left the room and charged down the staircase, hoping to find whoever was left behind aside from Faith or the Potentials. Giles was standing in the kitchen with a now eye patched Xander and Anya sitting at the kitchen table. Anya was the first to spot James furiously approaching through the dining room. "James is angry." she spoke plainly.
Giles and Xander turned to face the door from where they were sitting. "James?" Giles asked.
James entered the room and stopped, watching them all carefully. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Xander looked at Giles, and their eyes met. "Buffy." Xander said, realising the reason for James' outrage.
"You're damn right it's Buffy. The idea I got is that you were her Watcher, you know what she's capable of, how many apocalypses she's stopped. What were you thinking?" James asked Giles.
"It was a group decision." Giles replied.
"And you think Faith was smarter? Faith, who killed a few people here, a few people there when she felt like it. Let's follow her into battle, you thick English prick." James threatened firmly.
"Now just a minute!" Xander shouted, getting closer to James, "We're acting in the best interests of the group as a whole, not just you or anyone other one person. So, you'll treat Giles with a bit of respect!"
"Xander, you're incapable of looking after your own life unless I'm around to act as your bodyguard, kindly shut up." James dismissed, until Xander pushed him against the wall of the kitchen.
"Look, I know you think you're the leader of the gang, but here, we look at the bigger picture, capiche?" Xander said, intimidatingly.
"I am looking at the bigger picture, always have been. I had to look after you for no other reason than to ensure Willow didn't kill the whole world." James responded, pushing Xander back lightly, as to ensure he didn't send him back flying through the kitchen window.
"Is that so? Can't wait to see me go, huh? That sounds an awful lot like a Slayer I can't get behind." Xander quipped.
"Yeah, I wasn't gonna bring up the eyepatch before since it's a fairly new thing, but you look like a dipshit." James returned, earning a one-eyed glare from Xander.
