"You got anyone back home?" James asked Lewis, sitting across from him in the back of Oz's van.
Oz had been driving for over an hour while the other three had gradually gotten bored of the long journey.
"Yeah, I've got a girl back in Toronto. Her name's Sophie, she's great, everything I could ask for, really." replied Lewis, who looked down at his feet, getting homesick.
"So, why come all the way out here? There isn't a Hellmouth in Canada someplace?" James asked.
"Probably, but I don't know." Lewis said plainly.
James felt like he had brought Lewis down, reminding him of his home. "I had a girl once, didn't quite go as well as you."
"Oh yeah?" Lewis inquired, perking up slightly now the conversation had moved on.
"Yeah, we connected and stuff but then I had to leave for a bit, and when I came back she was-..." James started, fading out.
"Dead?" Lewis asked, putting a comforting hand on James' shoulder.
"What? No, she was gay." James explained, looking at him with a smirk.
"Oh! Damn, that sucks man." Lewis replied, stifling a laugh at the awkward situation.
"She was gay, huh?" Oz asked, tuning into the conversation. "I had a girlfriend that found out she was gay while I was away for a few months."
James panicked, completely forgetting that Oz had a relationship with Willow too. "Oh, well how about that then?"
"What was her name?" Lewis asked.
"Her name? Wil- Wilma." stuttered James, avoiding eye contact with everyone in the van. Oz gave James a strange look through his rear-view mirror briefly but shrugged it off.
"Look alive, people." Marcie said, interrupting the guys as they reached the monastery.
Oz parked relatively far away from the place as to avoid alerting anyone inside of their presence. The four got out and began creeping towards the monastery quickly and low to the ground.
"So we just kill the monks?" Lewis asked softly, recapping exactly what they were going to do.
"That's the plan." Oz responded, reaching the wall of the monastery. "There's got to be a back entrance."
"I'll go look." Marcie said.
"What do you mean you'll go and lo-" Oz said, turning to her but found only James and Lewis.
"She goes invisible, Oz." James reminded him.
"Oh, right."
----------------------------------
Five minutes pass and finally Marcie appears before the three again. "There's a door over that side that's unguarded. It was locked but not anymore." she said, smiling.
"Nice one, Marcie." James told her, moving towards where she had indicated.
Heading into the monastery, the four found themselves in an unsettlingly dim lit hallway.
"Over this way." Marcie said, already aware of where the monks were.
A faint chanting could be heard, spoken in an unintelligible dialect to the four, but still clearly a chant of some sort. As they approached the location of the chanting, James peered in and found a circle of about twenty rather nasty-looking demon monks, their hands held out in front of them, almost like they were giving something.
"So, what we waiting for?" Lewis whispered, a rifle of sorts in one hand.
"We're outnumbered, really outnumbered." James told him, still observing the room of monks, looking for anyway to take them all on. "What would Buffy do?" James said to himself, lightly.
