I had a roommate who is funny, kind and handsome. He is not the typical mysterious cool type like the usual male lead in novel but he's booming in charm. And I...naturally fell in love. But there are factors that should be consider regarding to my one-sided love.
First, he has a girlfriend.
Second, and the most trivial reason was...
"Dude! You're the best buddy I've ever had!" Dokyeom shouted while hugging me from behind.
Yes. I was his best buddy — a male pal.
But wait...I am not a gay, okay?
Due to some circumstances, I had to disguise myself as a boy. And that's how Dokyeom met me in my disguised. He's very friendly so we instantly got close. However, I experienced multiple challenges while living with him.
First challenge: hiding my gender.
Dokyeom is dense so he's easy to fool. For example, when he accidentally saw my sanitary napkin inside my bag, he believed when I told him that it was for my sister. He didn't remember the day when I told him that I'm an only child.
Second challenge: hiding my feelings.
There were times that I wanted to pull him and kiss him right away for being so cute but of course, I only did it in my imagination. I don't want to ruin our friendship by confessing as a man.
Third and the most difficult challenge: experiencing heart breaks whenever he tell me stories about his girlfriend.
"Dude! When I kissed her, I thought my heart will explode!" He exclaimed while sitting on his bed across mine.
I clenched my fists as I smiled bitterly, pretending to be okay.
"When we pulled back," he continued, hugging his pillow. "Her face are all red. She is so cute! Girls are really cute when they blush like that. Don't you think so, Youngho?"
Heaving a sigh, I nodded my head.
'I always blushed whenever he touches me but he won't find me cute, right?'
"How about you, dude? Don't you think it's time for you to be in a relationship too? My girlfriend has many cute friends. I will introduce you to one of her gals. So tell me your type, Youngho."
Secret love is really painful, especially when you're in my situation.
"You," I said.
Dokyeom's smile faded away, then he stuttered, "h-huh? M-Me?"
"I think we have the same type, I mean," I chuckled.
"Ahhhh," he gasped. "Oh pffft," next he laughed. "Does it mean, you also like my girlfriend?! Hey, don't steal her from me. I don't want you to be my competitor."
"Why are you scared? You're taller, more handsome and more masculine than me. There's no way she'll choose me over you."
And also, you're lovable than you think — is what I wanted to say but kept it inwardly.
"But you're too amazing," Dokyeom shared. He glanced at the ground then diverted his eyes at me again. "You're a man with passion. You enjoyed what you do and you plan for the future. It's something I'm jealous of."
A man with passion.
A man with passion huh.
Even if he addressed me as a man, it made me feel good. For that reminded me that my hard works are paying. But still... If there's something I really wanted to have, then that would be...
