My name is Y/N L/N, born with the power to copy, but it's caused me nothing but trouble. I'm always alone since my mom doesn't want me to hang with other kids, just in case. But once my mom drew her last breath, I was truly alone. I hate it.
•••
I lingered in my house, jumping at even the slightest movement. It's a lot for a kid to go through: my mom dying before my eyes, my village practically being raided. But I didn't move.
All in waiting of the man who spared me.
The door creaked open and I grabbed a broom. "Who's there?"
Once the sun's rays peeked through the windows, I dropped the broom and smiled. "Nice marine man!"
"Just call me Garp." He picked me up. "Now, we're going to get outta here before the navy gets smart and decides to check around here again."
He brought me to his docked boat and put me on it. "So, we're going to an island in Goa Kingdom. It's really not far from here at all, just over there." He pointed to the island a few miles away, but just close enough for me to see the forest.
"What's over there?"
"My grandson."
My eyes lit up as Garp got into the boat and sailed it to Goa Kingdom. Once we docked, Garp led me to a small village. "This is Foosha Village." Garp explained. "And that," He pointed to a small boy with a straw hat and a scar under his eye. "is my grandson."
Garp's grandson looked up at the two of us and saw my unfamiliar face, causing confusion to be painted on his features.
"Who's that, Gramps?" He walked up to me, looking me up and down as if I were a whole new species.
"Why don't you introduce yourself?"
"I-I'm Y/N!" I covered my mouth, accidentally saying it a bit too loudly. "S-sorry."
"I'm Luffy!" He held out his hand, and I looked at it. What does he want me to do?
He stared at me for a minute before taking my hand and putting it in his, allowing him to shake it. "When someone holds out their hand like that, you hold it and shake."
I nodded. "Okay!"
Luffy took my hand. "Come on! Let's go visit Makino!" I nodded and followed him to a bar.
"Hey Luffy! Who's this?" I looked up at the woman standing at the counter. She was pretty.
"I'm Y/N." Luffy lifted my arm. "You do it with other people, too."
"R-Right! My name is Y/N!" She smiled and shook my small hand. "Nice to meet you! My name is Makino."
I grinned. "N-Nice to meet you!" I turned to Luffy. "Did I do it right?" He nodded. "I think so!"
Makino rested her head on her hand. "Luffy, isn't today when Garp was going to take you to meet new people?"
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Oh yeah! Maybe he'll bring you, too!" He took me by the hand again and pulled me outside, where Garp was waiting.
"Gramps, is Y/N coming with me too?" Garp looked down at my pleading eyes and sighed. "Yeah, sure. It's not like she has anything to do here."
••
The two of us were brought to a house in the mountains, where Garp knocked on the door continuously. "Who lives here?" I asked.
"Someone."
I tilted my head and noticed Luffy was running around. "Are you chasing something?"
"Nah, you've just gotta get the energy out of you!"
