I looked at my unexpected guest. She somehow appeared in my room. It was a huge deal since my house had a barrier that prevents intruders from teleporting inside. The alarms didn't sound as well so she didn't forcefully break through the multiple barriers the house had. She managed to slip through.
"Well?" she asked.
"Well what?"
"I introduced myself. Isn't it common courtesy to return the favor?"
I sighed... She was throwing me off. I couldn't possibly anger her and start a fight that I couldn't win.
"My name is Takeda Felix, a magician from the Millennium Nights Association", I introduced myself.
"I know. You were my classmate", she smiled.
"If you knew, then what's the point of me telling it?"
"I'm just trying to see if you're the type who would be courteous with a being like me."
Wait a minute... Classmate??
"You said we were classmates. What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Is this how you were raised to treat guests? Barraging them with questions? I'm not exactly a sociable person but my family would serve tea to their guests", she said.
"You barge into a person's house and demand tea? Are you sure you're raised right?"
"Touche. But would you rather fight me or would you serve tea?"
Tentacles appeared on her back while I gathered my mana. Her eyes were staring straight at me while her smirk was showing how confident she was. I sighed.
"Is coffee okay?" I asked as I let go of my fighting spirit.
It was pointless to fight a battle that I couldn't win. The tentacles disappeared and she smiled.
We headed to the kitchen and I took out the coffee beans. I began grinding the beans and heating up the water. My uncle taught me how to make good coffee the moment I became a teenager so I knew the process without needing to look at a recipe.
"So? You were saying you used to be my classmate?" I asked while pouring the coffee into two cups.
I walked towards the table and handed her a cup of black coffee.
"Do you have milk and sugar? I'm not a fan of black coffee", she said.
I sighed and prepared the milk for her. After a few minutes, I returned with the milk and sugar and she mixed it with her coffee. Her black coffee turned into a brown color and she took a sip.
"This tastes good. I don't drink much coffee but this could compete with the ones made in popular coffee shops", she said.
"Thanks", I replied and took a sip of my cup.
If one would tell me that I would one day sit down and drink coffee with a creature that could destroy the world, then I would've laughed. Never in my wildest dream that I would drink with someone like that. And my dreams were wild.
"So? Will you finally tell me about what you are?" I asked.
"Have you heard of artifacts?" she asked me.
"Yeah. As a magician, I've read books about them."
A book appeared above her and landed on her hand.
"This is Ao-chan. She's a talkative one but she's a great friend. She found me and changed my life", she said.
"So... You used to be human", I finally understood what was going on.
