A fight against another supernatural creature

The man in front of me charged and I barely managed to dodge it. His blows were filled with the intent to kill and I knew his fists were very dangerous.

"Protect!

My Fortress!" I chanted and a wall made of mana appeared in front of me.

However, the man gathered darkness on his fist and after punching it, the wall shattered into pieces.

"A human's body is limited by its own mind.

Thus, I free myself from the shackles of logic.

My body is now my weapon", I chanted and my body became lighter and stronger.

However, I could barely avoid the man's attacks despite enhancing my physical abilities. The air in front of him exploded after I snapped my fingers. While he was distracted by it, I managed to put up a distance between the two of us.

"The sound of the cannon roars.

The firing of the guns shall commence.

Come forth, Rapid Bombardment!", I chanted and bolts of mana launched at him.

The man either avoided the bolts or deflected it with his darkness-infused arms. He was strong. Rapid Bombardment was a C-ranked magic. The fact that he could deflect it without using any magic meant that he was a formidable opponent.

"Why would a supernatural creature want to kill me?" I asked.

"I don't know and I don't care! What matters is that they paid well!" he charged and threw a barrage of punches.

Smoke appeared out of my body after I clapped my hands together. It was another chantless magic called Smoke of Secrets. This should buy me some time.

"Arcanum Primera!" a powerful surge of mana flowed through my body as I released the first seal of my Arcanum.

He was a supernatural creature since he didn't rely on magic. His ability involved controlling darkness and delivering powerful punches. If he was out to kill me, then there should be no problems if I killed him, right?

"Let your sins burn you

As the flames of judgment swallow your existence.

Hellflame Rhapsody!" I chanted and flames shot from my hand and wrapped around the man.

However, a shell made of darkness appeared when the flames died down. The ground around it melted but I was sure that the man was safe inside the shell.

I was waiting for him to get out of it and hit him with another Hellflame Rhapsody when the ground below me cracked. Don't tell me!

The man appeared from below and managed to land a solid blow to my stomach. Pain registered and I almost threw up my lunch as I was sent flying. However, I had no time to recover since he charged at me again and punched my chest. I bounced like a ball on the ground and he caught up with me once more.

"Protect!

My fortress!"

He smashed the barrier into pieces but I was able to compose myself. I clapped my hands once more and smoke covered the area.

"Turn back time when I was healthy

Return to me what was lost.

My body is broken

But not irreparable.

My mind is shattered

But corrigible", I chanted healing magic.

I was sure that my stomach was badly damaged and I broke a few ribs. While I was healing myself, I enhanced my senses to find out where the man was. When I locked on his mana, I smiled.

"Arcanum Segunda!" I released the second seal of my Arcanum.

By releasing it, I already showed him my location. His movements were fast as I felt him approaching me.

"Let the flow of the river of life stop.

Let the march of the endless time halt.

I ,who command thee, desire to bind karma.

I, who control thee, desire to secure the future.

Wrap thyself upon the foolish one who is my enemy!" I chanted.

Chains appeared from below him and bound him. He couldn't move but I knew he could get out of it in a few minutes. I just needed to buy time. It was dawn and I knew one magic that could beat him.

"The night which had the stars and the moon

And which was the time when the society slept.

The day which had the powerful sun

And was the time humanity advances."

A large magic circle appeared with me in the center.

"I am standing in between the boundary of the two.

The invisible line between light and darkness,

Between sleep and consciousness,

Between the duality of the world."

Another magic circle appeared with that man in the center.

"I am the magician who draws power from both sides.

The day's scorching sun

And the night's tranquil moon

Are under my command!

Silver and gold light shone upon the man and I heard him scream out in pain. Twilight Echoes was a powerful A-ranked magic that could only be used during dawn and dusk.

The light died down and the man was on the ground. I walked towards him and I could feel that he was still alive. That was amazing. Twilight Echoes was a lethal magic and I used it with the intent to kill. If he was still alive, then that showed how powerful he was.

"As expected of a supernatural creature", I said.

I felt a hostile presence and in one swift motion, he stood up and grabbed my neck.

"That hurt a lot, punk", his face was no longer grinning.

I tried to break free but his grip was too strong. He was strangling me with one hand and I couldn't do any magic since I couldn't chant. My consciousness was fading until I saw a bright ball of light head towards us.

The man let go of me and dodged but the ball chased him. It didn't take long until the ball hit him and exploded.

Then, the entire area vibrated. Sparks appeared every now and then and the air was suffocating. I knew about this phenomenon. This only happens when mana becomes very saturated and would end up interfering with the world without using magic.

A bone-chilling killing intent ran down my spine. When I looked at the source of the mana, I saw a blonde woman. She always had a smile on her face and sometimes, she would act like an annoying doting parent. But this time, my mother's face was radiating with anger.

Mana was coming out of her body and it was too powerful. Every living creature would subconsciously release their mana to their surroundings. However, the mana she was releasing was too much.

"How dare you hurt my Fely", she said as she stepped forward.

The debris near her floated upwards as they slowly crumbled. Sparks danced around her and her killing intent was going wild. I never saw my mother this angry before.

And it was the first time I saw someone use Arcanum Quinta.
