"Fely~~ Just stay one more day with us! I can pull some strings to extend your stay here! And I'm sure you can just manipulate your teachers' memories! Just one more day!!" mother begged as she hugged my legs.
We were in Frankfurt Airport and I was about to head to the gates and board my plane.
"Cut it out, Mary. People are staring", father tried to pull her away.
"Don't you want Fely to stay here? Better yet, we can have him live with us! He already had enough experience being independent! Let him stay with us!"
"He won't grow if you keep on spoiling him! Felix is a genius and having you around will negatively impact the way he'll grow. He also needs to keep in touch with his Japanese heritage. He already spent his childhood in Germany so he has to learn his Japanese roots while he's a teenager."
"Boo! Boo! Shin's being a meanie!"
"And I'll be the necessary evil if that's for the best for our son."
"Flight NH204 is now boarding", the PA system announced and it was for my flight.
"Goodbye, father and mother. I'll be going now", I told them and was about to walk away.
"By the way, Fely. I consulted a powerful oracle about your future", mother said.
"Really? What did you learn?" I asked.
Oracles were magicians who could predict the future. Or at least, they knew what was supposed to happen in the future. There was a theory that said that every event in this world had a "script" to follow. However, it was up to the people if they would follow the "script."
Most of the time, people were following the "script" without knowing about it. But once they were aware of the "parts" they had to play in the "script", there would be a chance that they would disobey it.
That was why asking an oracle was a huge deal. Carelessly knowing the "script" would affect a person's decision to follow it or not. There was such a thing as "order" and outright disobeying the "script" would cause trouble for the world.
And my mother was aware of the consequences of carelessly knowing the future. If she asked an oracle about me, then it must be a question that concerned her deeply.
"You'll be getting a girlfriend in the near future", she said.
Father sighed.
"Did you seriously bother an oracle just to find out about Felix's love life?" he asked.
"What? You can't blame me for being curious. Fely is already at the right age and I would be concerned if he's not interested in girls. I want grandchildren so a few hundred thousand euros are worth it", she said.
"Did you just... Spend that much money to ask a trivial question?" I asked.
"It's completely worth it! And since I hired a very skilled oracle, I can be assured that the prediction will be most likely true! Make sure to introduce her to us, okay?"
"Now that I know the "part" I have to play in the "script", do you think I would willingly obey? Besides, I would be too busy seeking the truth of this world as a magician to have time for a relationship."
"Tsk tsk. That's what your father said before he ended up falling for my charms."
"You were quite persistent back then so I had no other choice but to accept your feelings", father said.
"And look at us now! We're happy together except for the part where you're making your own son suffer."
"I'm not doing this because I want him to suffer. I'm doing this because I want him to grow and reach his potential."
"Well~~ We can always give Fely a younger sibling. Having a baby to dote on will be fun."
"I-I'll think about it."
Before I could hear more about whatever they would talk about, I headed straight to the gate and boarded my plane.
#Holoccurrences#
It was around 9 AM when I landed in the airport of our city. It was great to hear Japanese words again. The German language was more intimidating than the Japanese language, especially since I spent the last few years in Japan.
I looked around and it was the same old city. There wasn't anything new and I was glad things remained the same. A boring but safe life was better than an interesting but dangerous one.
Although my life was going to be a dangerous one. I was part of the Enforcers and our job was taking down dangerous magicians. And as someone who seeks the truth of this world, dangerous trials were on my path. But a good magician knew which fights he should take on.
And speaking of fights, that organization was still on the loose. The Grandmaster said that he would inform the Enforcers of their existence but I had a bad feeling that there was something more happening.
"Oh? Is that you, Takeda-kun?" a girl's voice asked from behind.
I turned around and saw a blue-haired girl... If I was correct, her name was...
"Hoshimachi-san, right?" I asked.
"I'm glad you remembered me!" she flashed me a smile.
You'll be getting a girlfriend in the near future, mother's words surfaced in my mind.
"Curse the 23 enigma", I said.
"23 what?" she asked.
"There's one movie that showed how a man gets obsessed with the number 23. Everywhere he goes, he could see a pattern that involved the number 23. The point of the movie is that because he believed that there was a pattern, he started seeing a pattern even if there wasn't even one in the first place."
"And how is this related?"
"Well... My mother said that I'll- you know what? Let's drop the topic. What do you need me for?"
I couldn't possibly tell her that I actually considered her to be a romantic interest. That would be very creepy and I couldn't think of any legitimate reason that would excuse my creepy behavior.
"I'm concerned about a ritual that happened in a school I am going to transfer in", she said.
"A ritual?"
"It caused quite an uproar that the school had to be closed for several days."
"What kind of ritual?"
"I don't know the details but the supernaturals in this city are saying that a necromancer is getting too much attention."
.... I just came back to Japan and I now had to deal with another necromancer?
