A magician should always find the truth. After all, magic was discovered thanks to curious people who wanted to learn more. This pursuit of knowledge became the very thing that defined magicians. However, magicians are different from one another despite having the same goals.
One difference between magicians was their purpose for finding the truth. Most of them tried to uncover the truth simply because they were curious. Some magicians, like the Millennium Nights Association, find the truth in order to make the world a better place. Of course, there were those who research the mysteries in order to satisfy their selfish desires.
Another difference between magicians was their methods in their pursuit for the truth. There were some bastards who would do anything just to have an answer for their questions. Magicians who didn't mind shedding blood for their research were the people our association didn't like.
A good magician should always try to find the truth. That's why the Grandmaster would hide himself in our Headquarters. Even if he called someone to meet him, they would have to find him using their own abilities.
"With my eyes, I observe.
With my ears, I listen", I chanted and my senses sharpened.
Of course, that wasn't enough. I could sense the Grandmaster's trace everywhere. Pinpointing the correct one among them was almost impossible. That's why I decided to use a much more direct approach.
"There will always be an answer for a question.
There will always be a solution for a problem.
A mystery only exists to be understood.
As a person who seek the truth,
I can uncover any secret hidden from me.
What I don't know, I shall learn!"
I focused on one of the Grandmaster's traces and analyzed the magic that created it. As always, his magic was complicated. I could spend an entire day looking at it and I still couldn't understand how it exactly worked. However, I could understand enough to know exactly where he was.
I walked to the third floor of the Headquarters and stood in front of a potted plant. If the Grandmaster made his entrance to be a potted plant on purpose, I couldn't understand his humor.
After facing my palm towards it and showing my mana, a door materialized. I opened it and entered a room.
It had no windows and the only light was from the crystals on the ceiling. Bookshelves lined on the walls and I knew that each and every book that was placed there was a priceless grimoire. A desk was found in one end of the room and an old man was sitting behind it.
Despite looking somewhere around his 50s, the person was more than centuries old. Not only was he old, he was among the powerful magicians that existed in history. He founded the Millennium Nights Association and was rumored to know the truth of the world. He was the Grandmaster.
"Congratulations on finding me, Felix", he smiled.
Despite being one of the most powerful magicians in the world, he didn't have any intimidating aura. The Grandmaster felt like one of the nice old men in your neighborhood and that was the truth. After all, he created the Millennium Nights Association in order to improve the world.
"Good day, Grandmaster", I bowed to show my respect.
A chair materialized in front of the desk and he motioned me to sit there. After sitting down, he had a warm smile as if he was talking to his grandson.
