A demon has a concern...

School finally ended for the day and I stretched my arms. Today was a regular day and I liked it. The past few days were eventful. Ever since that field trip, many things happened.

For one, I made my classmate into an immortal. Maybe it was all my fault why he was now entangled with the supernatural. Well... If what Ninomae-san said was true, Shinzou-kun was not exactly a normal human. One could say he was fated to be in the supernatural side of the world. Yeah. That's probably it. It was not my fault why his life was in chaos.

I actually wanted to talk to him but I wondered how to explain things. However, it would be difficult. It's not like I could just go to him and say, "Remember when you got shot by those criminals? I made him do that since I am a magician."

Maybe a "Hey. I know this is sudden but I made a nonaggression pact with a monster who is seriously in love with you. Why did I sign one? It was either that or death! I'm a magician by the way" would work. Who was I kidding? There was no way I could tell him that.

Luckily, Shinzou-kun wasn't in school today. I wouldn't be sure how I could interact with him after learning so much about him, especially the fact that he was an existence that was similar to a homunculus.

But he was a well-made homunculus. Even the best alchemists couldn't make something like him. I met a few homunculi before and they were mostly emotionless dolls. Shinzou-kun was very human. His existence was very interesting to the point that I would want to analyze him.

"Takeda-kun! Are you listening to me?" Tokoyami-san's voice finally snapped me out of it.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I've been trying to get your attention for a few minutes while you were having that creepy look on your face!"

"What do you mean creepy look?"

"It's the same look you would have when you would try to theorize about magic. I've seen it countless times whenever I'm helping you. What were you theorizing again?"

"I was thinking about Shinzou-kun and his unique circumstances."

"What's wrong with him?"

"No... It's not that important. Why were you trying to get my attention?"

I couldn't possibly tell her that. She might not believe me. Besides, I haven't confirmed that Ninomae-san was telling the truth. Even if she had no reason to tell a huge lie, I still shouldn't trust her completely. I had a feeling she was hiding more secrets. Until I get my hands on Shinzou-kun and analyze him completely, I shouldn't take everything she would say to be the truth.

"I want you to help me", Tokoyami-san said.

"Help you? What's wrong?" I asked.

"There have been mysterious disappearances in town lately. My homeless friends are disappearing one by one."

"Homeless people disappearing? That's not uncommon. Couldn't they just have left?"

"Five of my friends disappeared in the last couple of days. It's not normal!"

"I won't ask why you have five homeless friends but aren't you getting a bit worked up on this? They'll come back before you know it."

"No... They won't. I asked around and there were some people who said that a certain man talked to them before they disappeared."

"What's wrong with that?"

"Every person I asked can't remember what the man looked like. All they can remember is a blur on their minds."

Shinzo-senpai's story then came to my mind.

"Well... There are magics that can make you fade away from someone's memory. But I don't see the point of kidnapping homeless people", I said.
