"Thank you Cameron for taking me to the store" I smiled while putting the last item in the fridge.

"You're welcome but shouldn't I get something in return?"

"Like what?"

"Like..." He trailed off walking over to me a little closer.

He leaned in but I put my finger on his lips. "You really think-"

I was interrupted by my phone ringing. I looked the caller Id and it was ugh my mom.

"Hello?"

"Sweetheart I'm coming home tomorrow okay"

"Ummm ok?"

"Mommy's coming home"

"Okay?"

"Leyah, are you okay?"

"Yea. Mom don't worry I'm fine. It's really getting annoying. Are you really going to do this every time you leave for the next 6 months or more?"

"Sorry how foolish of me. But you have to understand that I'm not a little girl"

"Yes you are"

"I gotta go mom"

"Bye sweetheart"

"Bye" I said and hung up.

"What was that all about?" Cameron asked while taking a cheeto out of the bag and leaning on the counter.

"You"

"Me?"

"Yea she is so annoying when she calls and ask if I'm okay. If she didn't trust you or me then why did she let you live here?" I looked down.

"I shouldn't have came Huh?" He mumbled also looking down.

"No, you're fine it's just I brought myself into this because of what you heard was true. All of it. It's not your fault"

"I hope everything goes okay. I'm going to jacob's room"

"Go ahead it's your house"

"Do you want to come?"

"With my brother and you in his room? No..."

I shrugged and walked upstairs. And now disappeared.

I got my phone out and texted Angelina.

Leyah- hey sorry I couldn't come, my mom didn't let me.

Angelina-it's fine I really needed a friend though.

Leyah- I hope you're okay.

Angelina- I'm fine now that you're texting me. It's better than nothing. So enough about me, what did you do?

Leyah- I had to run to the grocery store with the exchange student Cameron. My mom's errands as usual.

Angelina- Exchange student?? Is he cute?

Leyah- yea😂 I'll tell you tomorrow at school.

Angelina- ugh don't remind me. Well I got to go my mom keeps on calling my phone.

Leyah- okay bye. See you tomorrow.

I put my phone down and went to go get some chips.

I heard foot steps and saw Cameron walking downstairs. I smiled as he returned it walking up to me.

He walked up to me really close. I thought he was going to make a move but all he said was, "Your brother sleeping" he chuckled smelling his minty breath.
