Alex's POV:

Today was Friday, August 25th. The day I get to take Nina out on a date. Also known as my 17th birthday. I woke up reaching for my phone.

I texted Nina: Goodmorning, beautiful.

She texted back: I'm excited for tonight

I'm glad she was excited. I was planning to take her bowling. Bowling is fun and casual. Perfect for the first date.

I headed into my personal bathroom. It was connected to my room, but since I'm the only person who actually uses this bathroom, it's mine.

I got showered, then went back to my room. My curtains were closed. What's the fun in that? I opened them. Hers were open too. Then she walked past. I raised my window.

"Nina," I yelled quietly. Well, I was trying to be loud enough to were she can hear me, but quiet enough to where the whole neighborhood couldn't. So basically, it came out as a yelling whisper.

She walked over to her window, noticing me. Then she raised hers too. "Guess who's 17 today?" I asked.

"Really?" She said excitedly. I nodded. "So today's your birthday?" I nodded again.

"Yup," I said. "And tonight your going to be the finale of my day." She started blushing.

"You chose to spend your seventeenth birthday with me?" She asked.

"Who else would I spend it with?" I asked.

"I don't know. I guess me?" She laughed. I laughed too. "See you at school?" She asked. I nodded.

"Mhm," I was about to close my window. But then she called out,

"Wait! Who's car is that in you driveway?"

"I have no idea," I said. "Guess its a distant relative here with my bar mitz•va money."

"You're Jewish?" She asked. I laughed, "No." I said. "Okay," she said laughing, "You can leave now."

"Bye," I said.

"I'm going to see you at school." She replied.

"I know." Then she shook her head, closing her window. I did the same.

I headed downstairs. My mom, stepdad, and Ange were all waiting at the bottom. "Happy Birthday!" They said in unison, well, except for Angie she was off.

She ran up to me and hugged me. "Can you drive me to BellaBoos, now?" Angel asked.

"If dad will ever let me use his car." I said looking in his direction. My stepdad's car was his baby. No one drived it except for him. On a very rare occasion, he'd let my mom. But he promised that shed get her own car very soon.

Maybe that's who's car was in the driveway. "Oh, no," he said. "Not my baby." Mom and I laughed. Even Angie laughed because she knew that that car was dad's baby.

"Well, how am I ever going to be able to take Angie places?" I asked.

"With your own car," he replied.

I laughed. "Haha. Yeah. As if."

"Serious," he said, "Follow me."

My heart was beating fast. I couldn't believe what was actually happening. I followed my stepdad out of the kitchen door, which was also the front door. And walking to him with our driveway.

I stopped walking and he kept on until he reached the drivers door. "I remember when I took you for you driving test. You were a natural." He said.
