Alex's POV:
As soon as second period was over, I went to my locker. I looked at my phone. 3 missed calls. One from Joan. One from my mom, and one from Nina.

What was happening? Did Nina leave school? Did she go to the hospital. I called my mom back, grabbing my boookbag and heading out of the school doors.

After five rings, she finally picked up.

"Alex, honey?" She answered.

"Yeah, mom, why'd you call?" I asked.

"It's Nina," she said.

"What?! Is she okay?" I asked. By this time, I had starting running towards my car.

"I'm not sure. She's at the hospital, but you shouldn't go. Stay at school. She won't be able to have guests at this point, anyways." She said.

"Sorry," I said starting the igniton in my car, "To late." Then I hung up and drove off as fast as I could to get to her.

It took me 25 minutes to get to the hosptial, and I was already going over the speed limit. I parked my car in the third row from the front. I grabbed my phone and took my keys out of the ignition.

I got of the car and ran to the emergency room as fast as I could. When I got inside, the waiting room was empty. I went to the front desk.

"Hi," a lady said, "what can I do for you?"

"Nina Myers." I said, "Where is she?" She started to type on the computer.

"Alex?" a voice called out. It was a soft, fragile voice, but it sounded familiar. I turned to see Paul supporting Joan who's eyes were red and puffy.

I walked over to them. "How is she? What happened?" I asked.

"She's okay, well at least right now. She's in under medication and is sleeping and will be for a long while, but they said she should wake as soon as 48 hours. If not, then we should be worried," Paul said.

I knew he answered because his mom wouldn't even be able to answer at this. I stood there for a moment, taking this in. She was fine like thirty minutes ago...or at least that's what she told me.

"What happened?" I asked, shaking my head. What could've happened just that fast?

"Well, she called me from school. She said that she'd gone to the bathroom to blow her nose and stopped there. I assumed she had a nose bleed, because that's all I could think of. I left work and drove as fast as I could to get to her. Thank God that my job is only 10 minutes driving distance from the school. I rushed into the bathroom, and she was lying there on the floor, passed out." Her mom said.

I was surprised she was even able to talk. I wasn't silent for a really long time, not sure what to say, now.

"Where is she?" A soft, familiar voice asked, "is she okay?" It was Beth. She ran in, tears in her eyes.

I embraced her in a hug and she started to sob in my arms. "I know. I know," I said. Then I answered her question, "She should be." Then she nodded. When she lifted her head, I felt a coolness in the spot where her tears had fallen onto my shirt.

I wrapped my around her shoulder and walked her over to the seats where Paul and Joan had sat down. "When can I see her?" I asked.

"As soon as they come and give us an okay," Paul answered. I nodded. Joan then asked Beth to go to the car with her, because she had something to give her.

I watched as the two of them walked out of the automatic, sliding doors. I moved into Joan's empty seat next to Paul. Then I started to cry. I looked at Paul, and whatever spirit possessed me, made me spill my guts to him.

"I love her," I said. "And I know she won't die, but I also know that there is a possibility, and that scares me. When she first got her cold, and couldn't come to school, I was scared. More scared than I've ever been in almost my whole life," then there was a silence until there were sobs coming out of my mouth.

"I know," Paul said. "You're the only guy I've trusted Nina with, because you put her above yourself. And I'm sorry that you're going through this." I nodded. Then I sat there as tears ran down my face.

After like two minutes, Beth and Joan finally came back in. Beth had a notebook in her hands. Joan sat on the other side of Paul and Beth on the other side of me. Then a nurse came out from a clear door.

"Those for Nina Myers?" She asked. We all stood. Then she walked over to us. "She's still in stable condition. Still asleep and undergoing medicine to get ready for chemo. She can have two guests at a time, I know you're all probably worried."

I looked at Paul and Miss Myers wondering who was going to go in first. "My mom and I are just going to see her and pray over her, and then you and Beth can see her," Paul said turning to me.

I nodded. "Okay."

Beth and I waited in the waiting area while the nurse took Paul and Joan back to see Nina. Then the two of us just sat back down.

"Nina texted me. Before she passed out I guess," Beth said.

"What?" I asked. My adrenaline was rising. Why did she text Beth. What had happened.

"I asked where she was. She didn't respond, she just told me to promise that I'd give to you what her mom gave to me." She responded.

"Why didn't she ask her mom to just give it to me and not to you?" I asked.

"I have no idea," she said. Then she handed me a notebook. On the front cover was written in black sharpie: To the One I Love. I opened the front cover. Inside was a letter; addressed to me.

At the bottom it said: with love, Nina. And those three words warmed my heart and they also made tears roll down my face. While waiting to see Nina, I started to read the first letter.

A/N: hey guys.! So I wanted this chapter to be longer than it is, but that didn't really go as planned lol. But anyways, I would love to have feedback, because as I've said before it only takes a second to vote and thirty to comment.

Also, most of the next chapters will either be in Alex's POV or they will be letters. The chapters with letters are going to be short, so don't get mad or anything lol.

But anyways, feedback would be lovely. Thanks. :)
