Nina's POV:
Last Friday was the best night of my life. Me and Alex had an amazing time. Today is Friday, September 1st. A week from Alex's birthday and a week from our first date.
I retrieved my book from my lockers for second period. Science. Alex wasn't here yet. He probably got stopped by a teacher or something. I headed over to class by myself. Or so I thought.
"Hi," Beth said coming up behind me and walking next to me.
"Hey," I said. "What's up?"
"I was thinking we don't hang out enough," Beth said. I stopped her there.
"Its only the second week of school," I said laughing.
"Exactly and we had all last weekend to hang out and we missed that chance!"
"Actually, I was on a date last weekend, but thanks for the offer." I said.
"Really?" She asked. I nodded. "With who?"
"Alex Jensen....I mean Waker," I said.
"How'd you know that?" She asked.
"Know what?" I replied not entirely sure what she was talking about.
"That his last name wasn't always Walker. That it was Jensen?"
"We--uh, we used to go to school together. We were best friends."
"You mean your the Nina Myers?" She asked.
"Yeah, I guess. What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"I remember you. Every one thought you were weird because you hung out with a boy, and at that time, boys were gross."
I laughed. Is that really all she remembers about me? I was actually really curious, so I asked. "Um, no. Also Alex talked about you before. He's also referred to you in the outside context, but I knew who he was talking about."
I nodded. We walked into science class. "So you're okay with us dating, then, you don't hate me?" She nodded.
"As long as you come to my house to night. Sleepover? Girls Night?" She asked, well, actually commanded.
I nodded my head, "Sounds fun," I responded. I sat behind her and right as the bell was ringing, Alex slid into his seat.
I heard Beth try to whisper to Alex, "I heard you had a date last weekend. With my best friend. So, if you hurt her, I hurt you. Got it?"
He laughed and so did I. "I'm doing pretty good as your best friend, huh?" She asked me. I nodded.
"The greatest." Then I thought, maybe Beth and I would be best friends. Maybe she'd be the bestest friend I've ever had.

Beth's POV:
After school, I walked to Nina's locker. She was leaning on hers and Alex on his. The were talking about something, obviously. And I was okay with it.
She's the closest I've come to even having a friend. I wasn't going to mess it up by being jealous, and as far as I knew, I wasn't. After Alex and I promised to be friends, I felt like that was the closure I needed after our breakup. I'm over him now.
"Not to interrupt, but Nina, I'll pick you up from your house, say 5:00?" I said walking up to them. She nodded.
"Sounds great. I'll be waiting," then she smiled and I walked away. Tonight was going to be fun.
I got to my car and headed for the store. I had to pick up a few party essentials for our night. I bought lots of snacks. I bought Pringles, Oreos, Starbursts, Mt. Dew, and Dr Pepper.
I also went to Family Video and rented a bunch of chic flicks, romance stories, some action movies, and the Pretty Little Liars collection series.
By the time I headed back to my car with snacks, movies, and a new phone charger it was 4:30. I didn't exactly know where Nina lived, but I knew that she was neighbors with Alex.
I pulled up to Alex's street. I didn't have to guess what house was hers, because she was sitting on the porch reading a book. I pulled into her driveway.
"Hey," I said, after rolling my window down. "You ready?" She asked.
"Yeah, but my bag's in the house. Want to come in?" She asked. I nodded then got out of the car.
I followed her through the door. As soon as it opened, there were stairs leading up. And to your left was a table and then a couch. I looked into the living room, and through an alcove thing was a dining room/kitchen area.
I followed her up the stairs. There was nothing straight ahead at the top, but the hallway had both a left and right turn. On the right was an open door that showed a bathroom. There was another door perpendicular to it which I assumed was her parents room.
We took the left turn. And there were two doors. We went through the one straight in front of us. Her room was pretty hug. She had king size bed with lavendar covers. To the right was an open door with a bathroom. To the left was a closest and a desk. There was also a bookshelves and a trophy shelf.
"Nice room," I said, breaking the silence.
"Thanks," she responded. The she grabbed her bag from her bed and her charger from the wall. "Okay, I'm ready now."
I nodded and we went to the car. It was only a six minute drive from her house to mine. We didn't talk on the car ride, so I played music.
Then we pulled up to my home. I got out of the car, locking it. Nina followed me up the side steps to the porch. I put my key in the lock, unlocking the door.
"Mom," I called out, stepping inside. "I'm home. And I've got company." There was an okay coming from somewhere in the house.
"Well, welcome to my humble home," I said to Nina. "Ready to party?" I laughed.
She laughed too, "Yes!"
