CHAPTER 10

Helaena

3 weeks later...

"Hello? Earth to Helaena, are you even listening to me?"

Agad kong ibinalik ang atensyon ko sa harapan ng laptop. "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

I was having a virtual meeting with Theia through Skype regarding our planned expansion for H&T Cosmetics. We do this every week, usually, we do it to review our company's priorities and address any issues that may have cropped up over the week. It's a good way to keep the lines of communication open and make sure we are on the same page. I implemented this practice ever since we started H&T years ago.

"Kanina ka pa mukhang distracted. Feeling ko tuloy wala kang naintindihan sa mga sinasabi ko." naka-simangot na sabi ni Theia habang nakatingin sa akin mula sa screen.

I let out a heavy sigh. She's right, I am distracted. Paano ba kasi? Nandito kanina si Dylan. He barged into my office uninvited and was pleading for me to forgive him. I got so mad and pissed that we end up fighting each other.

I found it hard to regain my composure after the argument, that's why I lost all my concentration.

"Pumunta kasi kanina dito si Dylan." sabi ko.

"Oh shit, is he still bothering you?" she looked worried.

"Yeah. It's been three weeks since I ended everything about us, mukhang hindi maka-move on si gago."

Bahagyang umangat ang isang kilay ni Theia.
"Bakit ikaw, naka move-on ka na ba?"

"I'm still in the process." agad na sagot ko.

"You better keep your words this time, Helaena. Because the last time you said that, nagkabalikan pa kayo."

"I already learned my lesson, Theia. Hindi na ako magpapa-ka tanga pa. I'll completely remove him out of my life, permanently."

Theia gave me a bored expression on the face.
"I won't gonna believe that, not until I see you date someone other than Dylan again."

Pagkasabi niya 'non ay biglang pumasok sa isip ko si Sue, ngunit agad ko ring ipi-niling ang ulo ko.

"I...I don't have any plans of entering a new relationship yet. I'd rather stay single for now."

Theia grinned playfully. "Madami akong ka-kilala na pasok sa standards mo. Do you want me to set you up on a blind date?"

Tinignan ko siya ng masama. "Kakasabi ko lang na ayoko munang pumasok sa relasyon diba?"

"Nah ah, remember you're not getting any younger."

"Thank you for reminding me that." puno ng sarkasmong sabi ko.

Theia laughed. "Well, magkaedad lang naman tayo e. I'm pushing thirty in the next few months too. But unlike you, I'm happy being single."

"Yeah right, with an active sex life for that matter."

Theia confidently tossed her hair. "What can I say? Masyado akong charismatic. At isa pa, ayokong makipag-relasyon kung hindi lang naman yung taong gusto ko ang makatuluyan ko."

After hearing that, bigla kong naalala ang kwento niya sa akin noon.

"Kamusta na pala yung step sister mo na gusto mo?" curious na tanong ko. "Naging kayo ba?"

"Si Blythe? Nope, hindi naging kami. But we are good though. Wala pa rin kaming exact label, but I feel like gusto niya rin ako. Ayaw lang niyang aminin kasi nga diba, step sisters kami, at para sa kanya mali parin daw yun lalo na't mag-asawa yung Mom ko at Dad niya."
