I loved him with everything I had... and then I didn't.
And I don't know why torture like that exists, but the worst heartache I'd ever experienced was
looking him in the eye and telling him I had fallen out of love with him.

4|| Shitty reasons for visiting
After lunch was over and we were all leaving, the clearing of a throat made us stop. We turned back around and saw James standing awkwardly, eyes cast slightly downward and his posture almost defensive. It was as if he was nervous to say what he wanted to say, but he went ahead anyway, because that's what James was like.
"I- I want to talk to Char, if that's alright with all of you." His statement almost turning into a question by the end.
"It's Charlotte to you. Also, you need my permission to talk to me, not everybody else's. I don't have the time now, we may talk later if you're still in the city." I said and walked away to my car.
The chauffeur was ready to put the car into drive the moment both Finn and I were inside. As we drove back to the office I could sense Finn was biting his tongue to not piss me off. But it was pissing me off anyway, so after a while of not being able to handle it, I snapped my head towards him and asked him to spit out whatever he wanted to say.
"We're here ma'am." The chauffeur said at that time. We quietly made our way to my office on the top floor of the building.
"I just felt like you should've spoken to him. I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything like that. I just can't see you hurting like this and maybe speaking to him will give you some kind of closure." Finn said when we got to my office room.
"I never said no to speak with him Finn. I just can't now, today. I need time to calm myself down or I will end up saying or doing something that I'll regret later." I replied.
"I'm so sorry Lottie. It is because of me that you're going through so much." He said sounding very sad.
"Listen here Finn, and listen well because I am tired of telling you this again and again. You did nothing wrong. James decided to not trust me. James decided to not ask for my explanations. James decided that the love I had for him was not enough, that I will go out looking for somebody else without ending things with him. It is his fault that the two of us are here suffering. Maybe a bit my own too that I could never reassure him enough. But that's where it ends. Capiche?"
He nodded with a small smile. It wasn't really much, but it wasn't fake and that was enough for now. To know not another friend of mine is hurting because of stupid things and decisions from four years ago. After that talk, the both of us got back to our work, I wasn't really lying when I said I had work to get back to.
The next day Finn looked slightly worried when I entered the office. I just gave him a questioning look handing him his coffee and rounding the desk to get to my chair. Once I was sitting down, Finn cleared his throat and gave me the look again. I raised my eyebrow at him and he sighed.
