37|| A date

Our deserts came after a few minutes and we dove into them celebrating becoming friends again. Now all I had to do was ask Finn, Illuka and Amber from the secretarial team.

It almost sounds pitiful that I'm asking my secretary to be my bridesmaid, but that girl has supported me and Finn since our first day. She has become a good friend to me and I'd really like for her to be my bridesmaid.

Luckily all three of them agreed when I asked, Amber crying in the middle of my floor overcome with happiness and gratitude.

The next weekend I took them to Maddy's office and he took their measurements. I told them I was thinking of burnt orange dresses and a suit for Finn; asking if they were okay with it, to which they nodded eagerly.

Finally having my bridal party, I felt somewhat calm knowing I can rely on them to take care of things with me.

Ebby noticed my slightly relaxed state and scowled. He plopped onto the couch one day, right next to me and groaned as he stuffed his head into my neck.

"What?" I chuckled and squirmed.

"It was easier for you to just ask your girls to be your bridesmaids since you have a sister who will be the maid of honour, obviously. What would I do?" He asked.

"Do you want to keep the best man spot open for Ezekiel?" I whispered, remembering the time he shared his story with me.

"I do, but I also know it will hurt so I want to ask either James or Mark, but I can't pick one." He said.

"First off, it might heal if it hurt, so you can keep the place empty if you want. Secondly, if you can't choose, you don't have to. You can have them both be your best men." I say and he smiles.

"I'll ask them both then. And I'll have dad carry a picture of mum and Zekky on that day." He whispered before he leaned up and kissed my forehead.

When he pulled back I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. It was slow passionate, to show him the love I felt and comfort him. To show him I was with him every step of the way till death do us apart.

Time passed us by soon as we ran between our offices and different places to try and pick things. Even if we knew we would have to do this all over again, just weeks before the wedding, we still ran about all over the town.

Ebby managed to ask both the boys to be his best man and they both got emotional about it. James refused at first, doubtful that the others would accept it and Ebby told him it was me and him getting married and what we want goes.

Mark although accepted almost readily, made sure we were sure about it since James had been our friend for longer.

Soon it was mid-July and Mia was panicking much more than me which was amusing to see.

One morning Ebby said he wanted to take me out on a date so I agreed and we both made sure to come home early.

We both got dressed in casual clothes and took out his motorbike and went on a ride to downtown area. We just roamed around the place like our heads are in the clouds and ate everything we came across.

From there he took me to the late night arcade which had neon lights and high school delinquents dressed in faux leather jackets all over the place.

We played many games there and butted heads trying to one up each other. And in most cases we'd tie even in the tie breaker games. It was almost like the times we'd hang out back in high school, only now we kissed and held hands and were hopelessly in love with one another.

We eventually went to a 24/7 diner that was close to the high school we attended. It was a place we'd go to often when we were kids and the daughter of the man who ran the place would always try to hit on James.

I'd get so pissed sometimes when she'd purposely brush up against him when he'd ask her to leave. I remember once asking her why she never went for Sebastian who was equally good looking.

"Why would I go for another woman's man?" She'd asked and when I asked what she meant she'd said, she wouldn't ever hit on my man.

"You remember Nancy?" I asked Ebby as we got closer to the door of the diner.

"The daughter of the man who runs this place?" He asked with a snort. "Of course I do, she'd always hit on James, and while you enjoyed seeing him squirm, it was amusing when you lost your cool."

"I once asked her why she never hit on you. Why it was always James and never you." I say to him and he stopped.

"You did?" He asked and I nodded. "What did she say?"

"That she would never go for a taken man. Therefore I had nothing to worry about." I replied.

"What!?" he exclaimed.

"Yea, when I told her James was my boyfriend and not you, she said she could've sworn it was you and I that was dating. That we were just closer and more comfortable with each other in a way that made it look like we'd been dating for a long time."

He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer kissing me with so much passion that my body forgot it had knees at all.

When we pulled apart and looked into each other's eyes, we knew something had shifted between us, making us closer than before.

So we drove back home instead of going into the diner and meeting the girl who foretold our fate.
