Friendship is so bizarre.

You just pick a human and you're just like, "yup! I like this one!" and then you spend a lifetime growing old together.

22|| Movies, food and awkwardness

We spent about 20 more minutes after the story ended. Daniel came running over to us, shouting our names to tell us to get back because we were going back home. Bash and I stood up on shaky legs, and slowly made our way back inside and joined the flurry of activity there trying to pack up valuables and leave.

All of us made our way to the cabs waiting to take us back to the comfort of our homes where we can change into comfortable clothes and sleep.

I hugged Bash one last time before going home. I felt the need to stretch our time together that night as much as I could.

The next day we dad woke me up and told me freshen and come downstairs so we can have lunch and go bring in the rest of the things.

Yes, lunch.

I did as told and went downstairs, gobbling up whatever was laid on the table without paying my mind to it. I just really wanted to see Bash and was hoping to run into him at the hall.

Dad and I got into the truck and drove to the hall grabbing the boxes and loading up while my eyes searched him. I had no luck and didn't see him, but it didn't matter because I was ready to go over to his place. It helped that Daniel called right as I was getting into the passenger's seat of the truck to invite me over to Bash's place so we could all spend a relaxed evening together.

Getting home I showered and put on a pretty sundress and ran down. My parents who had been sitting on the couch in the living room sipping tea snapped their heads in my direction raising an eyebrow at my rush.

"I'm going over to Bash's. Daniel wanted hang." I say and run out to the car.

I drove as fast as I could without breaking the road laws, picking up some finger food, packed foods and drinks on the way.

Once I got there I punched in the code and entered the house starting on my way to the kitchen when a scream escapes my mouth. James, Arabella and Daniel stood there with baseball bats, pans and brooms.

"What are you doing guys?" I asked slowly.

"We thought you were a burglar!" Daniel exclaimed as the other two stared at me.

A burglar that knew the code for the house gate.

"Where's Bash?" I asked ignoring what he just said for the sake of my sanity.

"Kitchen Ari." His voice rang out and I started to move towards him when Daniel's eyes focused on my hands.

"You brought food?" He asked excitedly. I laughed and nodded a yes.

In the kitchen, Bash was pouring popcorn into a bowl, he looked up and smiled and I smiled back at him. I then placed the food I bought on the counter putting them into plates and bowls and he shot me a relieved look.

When we finished, we carried them into the living room where the other three, along with Mark's school friend, whose name I can't remember for the life of me, were setting up the TV to play movies.

We settled into the couch and the floor with the food and remote and thus began our relaxing day in. After watching two movies we were all done with just sitting down and so we moved to the game room and looked around to play something. We played pool, and then ordered dinner and went back to watch movies. It felt nice to just hang out and not worry about anything else.

Soon the dinner came and the guys and I held Daniel down as Bella went to bring the food. Had it been Daniel, he'd have had all the food before bringing it to us; we've had too many dinners or lunches with him to have not learnt a lesson.

One last movie after the dinner and all of us were getting ready to leave. We still had jobs to get back to and for that we needed sleep. Mark's friend was the first to leave, followed by Bella. Daniel left then too because we ran out of food and he had to get back home anyway, or his girlfriend would make him sleep on the couch.

Then it was only Bash, James and I. We sat staring at each other awkwardly. And that made me sad, the three of us had been so close growing up and now everything had changed.

And somehow I felt like it was all, my fault.

"I – I'll be leaving then guys, make sure to talk it out." I say as I hurried towards the door when Bash held my wrist.

"I wanted to talk to you Ari." He whispered into the space.

"I'll leave then, since neither of you want me here." James bit out and went to the door.

"It's not that we don't want you James. It's too soon and it's not the way you wish for it to be. I hope you understand." I said to him, trying my best to look him in the eye.

"Bash, I'll be home, we can talk there." I said and then leaning in to hug him, I whisper in his ear, "Talk to James, matters between him and I should not affect your friendship."

"Not even when it was abuse?" He asked bitterly.

"Not even then." I replied and turned around leaving the house.

I did not want to leave, at all. I was worried of what they might do to each other if no one was there to keep them from throwing their fists.

But then, I realized it has to happen this way. Because their friendship was between them, just the way my problems with James were between us.

I can worry for one of them or both, but that does not give me leverage to meddle between them.

And so I left Bash's house, trusting them to work it all out in their own way.
