Chapter 14: Peter Pettigrew

"Oh merlin." I said finally putting it together.

"Did you put it together Lily?" Lupin asked.

"Yes, It's Peter, he is scabers! His animagus form was a rat! Only a finger was found of him, Ron's rat missing a finger." I said.

"Very good Lily." Lupin said.

"But there is more!" I said. "Dad was supposed to be the secret keeper for Harry's parents. If dad did not turn him in, someone else had to have been it. I know it was not Lupin; he would never do that. That means it has to have been Peter! They must have switched it and only the Potters and Sirius and Peter knew!" I said.

"You're a very smart girl." Sirius said.

"He is in this room right now! Come out Peter! Come out and Play!" Sirius said.

"Expelliarmus." Snape said as he entered the room. Lupin's wand flew out of Sirius's hand.

"Vengeance is sweet." Snape said. "How I hoped I'd be the one to catch you." Snape said.

"Severus." Lupin said but Snape pointed the wand at him.

"I told Dumbledore you and most likely your daughter were helping a friend into the castle. Here's the proof." Snape said.

"Brilliant, Snape. Once again you put your keen mind to the task and come to the wrong conclusion. Now if you'll excuse us Remus and I have business to attend to." Sirius said walking close to Snape. Snape put his wand to his throat.

"Give me a reason. I beg you." Snape said.

"Severus, don't be a fool." Lupin said.

"He can't help it. It's a habit." Sirius said.

"Sirius be quiet!" Lupin yelled.

"Be quiet yourself." Sirius said.

"You two, quarrelling like an old married couple." Snape said.

"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set." Sirius said.

"Dad, stop! You're making it worse." I said.

"Dad?" Snape said. "Of cosue she is your daughter. I should have known from the black hair and the eyes. And the attitude." Snape said. "I could do it, you know. But why deny the dementors? They're so longing to see you. Do I detect a flicker of fear?" Snape said.

"Oh yes." Sirius said clearly annoyed.

"A dementor's kiss. One can only imagine what that must be like. It's said to be nearly unbearable to witness. But I'll do my best." Snape said.

"Severus please." Lupin said.

"After you." Snape said.

"No!" I yelled, reaching for my wand.

"Expelliarmus!" I fired at Snape knocking him into the bed which collapsed onto him.

"Lily! What did you just do?" Ron asked.

"You attacked a teacher!" Hermoine said.

"Why do you care what happens to me. I am just the daughter of a murder." I spat she flinched.

"Tell me about Peter." Harry said.

"He was at school with us. We thought he was our friend!" Lupin said.

"No. Pettigrew's dead. You killed him!" Harry said.

"Did you not listen to Lily? No he didn't kill him. I thought so too until you mentioned Pettigrew on the map!" Lupin said.

"The map was lying then." Harry said.

"The map never lies." Sirius said.

"Pettigrew's alive! And he's right there" Sirius said, pointing to Scabbers.

"Me?! He's mental." Ron said.

"Not you! Your rat!" Siruis said.

"Scabbers has been in my family for.." He started but was cut off by Sirius.

"Twelve years?" Sirius said. "Curiously long life span for a common garden rat!" Sirius said. "He is missing a toe, isn't he?" Sirius asked.

"So what?" Ron asked.

"All they could find of Pettigrew was his finger!" I yelled.

"Dirty coward cut it off so everyone would think he was dead. And then he transformed into a rat!" Siruis said.

"Show me." Harry said.

Sirius tried to grab the rat but Ron would not let go.

"Give it to him, Ron," Harry said.

"What are you trying to do to him?" Ron asked as Sirius finally got Pettigrew.

Sirius sat Pettigrew on the table as Lupin picked up his wand.

Sirius and Lupin fighered spells at him and finally got him when he tried to go through a hole. Sirius and Lupin went over and pulled him out.

A short plump man stood in front of us. Hair receding and missing a finger.

"Remus? Sirius? My old friends!" He said walking away from them and close to me. "What a beautiful daughter you have, Sirius. She looks just like you." He said as he ran one of his fingers over my face. My knees felt weak like I would fall.

"Don't touch her!" Sirius and Lupin yelled. He backed away and closer to Harry.

"Harry! Look at you. You look so much like your father." Pettigrew said. "Like James. We were the best of friends."

"How dare you touch my daughter and speak to Harry!" Sirius yelled.

"How dare you talk about James in front of him!" Sirius yelled as Pettigre ran behind the piano.

"You sold James and Lily to Voldemort!" Lupin yelled.

"I didn't mean to!" Pettigrew pleaded. "The dark lord, you have no idea the weapons he possesses! Ask yourself, Sirius! What would you have done!" Pettigrew asked.

"I would have died rather than betray my friends!" He yelled. Pettigrew crawled under the table. Me and Harry ran to the door to block him.

"Harry, James would not have wanted me killed! Your dad would have spared me! He would have shown me mercy!" Pettigrew said holding Harry.

"Get away from him!" I yelled pushing him back as Sirius and Lupin grabbed him.

"So much attitude just like your father Lily." Pettigrew said.

"You should have realized Peter that if Voldemort didn't kill you, we would. Together!" Lupin yelled.

"No!" Harry yelled.

"Harry, this man.." Lupin started.

"I know what he is, but we will take him to the castle." Harry said.

"Bless you boy, Bless you!" Pettigrew said crawling to Harry's feet

"Get off!" Harry said.

"I said we'd take you to the castle. After that the dementors can have you." Harry said.

"Let's go." Sirius said.
