Chapter 17: Buckbeaks Rescue

"Dumbledore obviously wanted us to return to this moment. Clearly, something happened. He wants us to change." Hermoine said.

"Good punch." Harry said as we watched Hermoine punch Draco.

"Thanks." She said,

"Malfoys coming." I said as we ran to hide.

As we watched the past us run down to Hagrid we followed behind. We ran to hide behind the pumpkins we hid behind before.

"Look, Buckbeak is still alive." Hermoine said.

"Wait! Maybe Buckbeak's death! He said 'maybe more than one innocent life will be spared.' He must be talking about Sirius and Buckbeak!" I said.

"Here they come, I better go get him before they come." Harry said about to run but then was stopped by Hermoine.

"No Fudge has to see Buckbeak before we take him otherwise, he'll think Hagrid set him free." Hermoine said.

"That's Pettigrew." Harry said as Ron got handed Scabbers.

"Harry, you can't." Hermoine said

"He betrayed my parents." Harry said.

"Harry, he betrayed my dad too. He let him go to Azkaban for 12 years for something he did not do. I know it is not as bad as what happened to you but still he betrayed my dad too. I want to go get him just as much as you do but we can't." I said.

"Harry you're in Hagrid's hut now if you go bursting in, you'll think you've gone mad. Awful things happen to wizards who meddle with time. We can't be seen. Fudge is coming." Hermoine said. "And we aren't leaving."

"Why aren't we leaving?" Hermoine asked. Hermoine picked up a rock and threw it into Hagrid's hut. Breaking the vase we saw broken.

"Are you mad?" Harry asked. She threw another one and it hit Harry in the head.

"Ow. That hurt." Harry said.

"Sorry." She said,

"We're coming out the back door!" Hermoine said as we ran into the forest. "Is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" Hermoine asked, breaking a twig. The other Hermione turned around.

After the old us left we ran back to the pumpkins.

"Ok go Harry go." Hermoine said.

"Go get off." Harry said to some birds. He bowed low to Buckbeak.

The door from Hagrid's hut opened then closed.

"Come on Buckbeak. Come away with us. Come on." Harry said, trying to pull Buckbeak. Buckbeak did not move.

"Quickly." Hermoine said as she ran off to get a dead squirrel.

I heard Dumbledore saying something about a very long name. He was trying to give us time.

"Hurry up now, Buckbeak, Ok?" Harry said, trying to pull him.

"Guys we have to hurry." I said.

"Come on. Come on, Buckbeak." Hermoine said, trying to get him away with squirrels. Buckbeak followed right away.

"Come on. It's here. Come on, Beacky." Hermoine said, leading him into the forest. We went into the forest just as the group in Hagrid's hut came out.

"But where is it? I saw the beast just now! I saw it not a moment ago." The minister said.

"How extraordinary." Dumbledore said.

"Come now, Dumbledore, someone's obviously released him." Said the minister, annoyed.

"I don't think the minister is suggesting Hagrid had anything to do with this are you?" Dumbledore asked. "After all, how could you? You've been with us all the time."

"Right." Hagrid said.

"Well we must search the ground." Said the minister.

"Well search the skies, if you must, minister. Meanwhile, I'd like a nice cup or tea or a large brandy." Dumbledore said, walking back inside Hagrid's hut.

"Oh, executioner, your services are no longer required." Dumbledore said. The executioner raised his hook then brought it down on a pumpkin.

"Now let's go save my dad." I said as we ran through the forest towards the whomping willow.

"Look Lily it's you and your d- well Lupin I guess." Hermoine said as we watched past me throw a rock and the knot in the tree.

"And Snape's coming." Hermoine said as we watched Snape enter.

"And now we wait." Harry said sitting.

"So can you tell me about the whole dad situation?" Harry asked.

"Sure." I said laughing.
