The next week of school were horrible. My plan was working though so I guess there was some good. I dreaded defence against the dark arts. I opened the door to see Professor (He was not even a professor) Carrow standing there.

"Your late Black." He said. I looked at the clock. I in fact was not late.

"Actually I am not. I still have two minutes." I smiled walking to my spot in line.

"Crucio." He called but I blocked it.

"Yeah that's never happening against my will again." I said.

"Oh yeah, I forgot you were tortured. By your cousin no less." He smiled.

"I was. She also would cut my back with a poisoned dagger. It is a miracle I am here. Would you like to see?" I asked. Blaise grabbed my arm and pulled me into line.

"Don't antagonize him lily." He whispered in my ear. He released my arm.

"Fine." I said.

"Bring in the first years!" Carrow called out. A group of scared first years came out. "Wands at the ready, we are going to try the Cruciatus curse." He smiled wickedly.

"No!" I said jumping in front of them and setting a protective barrier around them.

"Really Black?" He said.

"Really." I said holding my arm out in front of them. "Kretcher!" I called and he appeared beside me.

"Yes mistress?" He asked.

"Take these first years to the transfiguration room and tell McGonagall that I helped them." I said to Kretcher.

"Yes mistress." He said grabbing the kids and disappearing.

"Who will we practice on now Black?" Carrow asked.

"Me." I said. People looked surprised.

"And me." Neville said standing beside me. Others joined.

"Do you know what you're doing?" Blasie asked, standing beside me.

"Not a clue but I know we are not going to practice unforgivable curses on the first years." I said.

"Well Black if this is the way you want it to be." Carrow said, firing a curse at me. I let it hit me. It hurt but not as much as Bellatrix. "Well. I guess you have a high pain tolerance." He said annoyed.

"Oh well." I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"Go to the office Black." He said.

"Yes professor." I said walking out of the class.

I walked to the headmaster's office.

"Black why am I not surprised to see you back here?" He asked.

"We keep doing this. It's become almost a weekly thing." I half laughed.

"What are you here for this time?" He asked.

"Professor Carrow wanted us to practice the cruciatus curse on first years. I said no and sent them away." I said.

"Why would you do that?" He asked.

"I have had that curse done to me multiple times. A first year whose only crime is being a first year does not deserve that." I said.

"I agree." He said.

"Wait really?" I asked.

"yes. I agree with you. I will talk to him about it." He said.

"Thank you." I said. I was very surprised about his willingness.

"Why?" I asked.

"You're right that cursing is not fun. No one should have to endure that." He said.

"Ok. So can I go?" I asked. He nodded.

Later that night I was talking to Lupin in the mirror.

"He agreed with me so easily." I said.

"Yes I will agree it is strange." Lupin said thoughtfully.

"I don't know what to do." I said.

"What do you mean Lily?" He asked.

"I want to help but I don't know how." I sighed.

"You are doing more than enough." Lupin smiled.
