"But I know that I will try
To begin again."
•••••Avni halted her car in front of huge gates, Khanna Mansion was written in bold on the left side of the gate, she thanked the car she was using was of Aman's, she was probably sure Aman was gonna kill her for using it, it had Neil's address as the default address, the navigator of the car was really her biggest hope when she was driving. Two men dressed in a black suit rushed towards her car. Avni wiped her face once again, before lowering the window, the man's face had a scowl.
"Who are you? And what do you want?" He asked, she thought for an excuse for a second.
"Avni Mehta, I'm here to meet Neil, um. . .he had invited me." she added the lie for good measure, "Mehta? Aman sir's sister?" Avni nodded, her face neutral, both guards shared a look before opening the gate, she sighed and thanked Aman silently for being the best friend with that rock— Niel.
She drove around the fountain in the middle, her mind going haywire, she had come here to apologise but how do you apologise to someone who someone close to you hurted? She sighed, she didn't know the answer, she scoffed resting her head on the steering wheel. When did her life become so complex?
Her mother was no longer the kind, caring person she remembered her as, she was now a murderer, it group was no longer dumb kids with prejudice, their emotions were valid, not the part where they hated her but overall. She needed to apologise to Neil and Vidhyut on her mother's behalf, they both deserved it.
She needed to apologise to them with the same fierceness and passion, she had argued with them and called them names. With one last long breath, Avni turned the car's engine off and got out of the car. She looked at the fountain, water flowed from a four-layer marble circle, trees surrounding it.
Her steps were light, anxious as she climbed the stairs to the house entrance, the huge carved wooden doors were closed, Avni rang the bell, she waited as she heard a disturbance on the other side of the door, she stepped back as the wooden door was pulled open, women with blue saree stood there, her saree looked like a uniform, so she recognised her as a worker in the household.
"Who are you beta?" The women asked, Avni twisted the ring she was wearing in her hand.
"Um. . .I'm Niel's friend." she lied, "He had invited me as we have a project to do together."
"Niel baba's friend?" The women muttered, "It's good baba is making new friends other than the ones who always come over." Avni refrained a snort at women calling Niel antisocial indirectly, she then remembered for what she had come here, her small smile disappeared.
"Niel baba will be in his room, take the stairs and go left, the white wooden door is his." she said as Avni stepped inside the mansion, the extravagant chandelier middle of the room was the first thing she noticed, the sofa three sofas underneath it.
Avni hurried ahead towards the golden coloured staircase, she took a deep breath as she reached on the floor, she took left as instructed by the lady, all her artificial courage disappeared as she stood in front of the white door with a golden handle, her hands shook as she raised her hands to knock on his door.
Fuck this is a bad idea. She thought and then knocked on the door.
"Come in." was the reply, Avni opened the door, slowly. Her eyes scanned the navy blue room, in contrast to her light coloured room, Neil's room was extremely dark, the curtains in golden colour were opened lightning the room, the huge bed laid in the middle of the room, blue quilt folded over it. Many blue cushions lay scattered on the bed.
