Neil was uncomfortable but he could not complain it was his idea to ask Avni and Ali to stay the night at hideout because it was not safe for the them to go back at midnight. Unlike what his friends thought it had nothing to do with fact that now he knew they used to sleep in same room and there was chances they still would.
It had absolutely nothing to do with that.
He glanced at Ali who was arranging the bed which he was going to sleep on Neil arranged his frowning. He silently cursed his friends who had managed to get him room with him. He would get back to all of them.
"So you are same age as Avni?" Ali asked, siting on his bed, looking very self-assured Neil hated that. He had to work for years to gain same confidence Ali was showing and it seemed like he was born with it!
He nodded, "Do you have girlfriend?" Neil narrowed his eyes looking at him, "Oh was that too personal question?"
"Then why don't we discuss the person who has brought us together, so how long have you liked Avni?" he asked crossing his legs and leaning on bed frame with his hands crossed over his head.
"Longer than you have known her."
"Yet that didn't stop you from being epic asshole to her, cool." he countered back, Neil clenched his fist and counted all of the reason he should not resort to violence.
"What do you want?" he gritted out. Counting till ten to calm himself down.
"A guy better than you for Avni but if she chooses you, I want you to be that better guy, Avni is my best friend, hurt her and I will hurt you." he said, "Neil Khanna I'm giving you a chance do your best with her and love her."
"Wait. . . what?"
Ali smiled, he adjusted himself on the bed, "Avni takes time when it comes to romantic relationships, she is very particular about them. Loving someone is hard for her considering she didn't really had any ideal relations to look up too. I believe she trusts you, that's the first step just be consistent and when these things end and she wants to leave let her go and heal yourself and let her heal herself before chasing her."
"I was ten when Avni was found by Nano, she was so scared, so lonely. I don't think she has recovered from that, she never met a therapist, we could not afford it and the stigma that followed going to therapist was huge too so even after getting money from Ashish Mehta for her treatment Nano and Mom didn't sent to her one. Avni just grew up with all the things that torments her.
"She was diagnosed with PTSD!" Neil exclaims, "That is literally horrible."
Ali just shrugs, "My Nano and Mom did what they could, they could have done better but I don't blame them, plus I doubt even your parents would let you to therapy even after being educated so highly and being so rich."
Neil knew Ali meant it off-handedly but it was just so true, Neil remembered when he was first diagnosed with severe anxiety, his father didn't gave a fuck about it. He had told him to get his act together and no son of Khanna's went to a therapist.
"Wait why are you telling me this?" he asked, kinda confused. Ali now adjusted himself to lay down on the bed.
"Because Avni would never tell you this and try to make someone stay and I know she wants you to stay plus the way things are going, things are going to be very hard now. So trust Avni and trust your friends." the way he said that, it scared Neil.
He knew things were going to get bad but him saying that told Neil getting bad was an understatement. He left very anxious, his father will be so disappointed, what will happen to his Mom and Bebe? If his father went to jail because of him none of them will want to see him again.
