I was in the kitchen making breakfast, Rachel helping me out.

"I don't know what to do anymore," I said.

"Just make up some stories...tell her he's just an imaginary friend," Rachel said, spreading avocado on the toast.

"You want me to lie to her?" I exclaimed. "I can't do that, you know where my lies led to, Rachel."

"Well, what are you gonna tell her...that the man she keeps seeing in her dreams and her daily visions is her father?"

"Sshhh!" I quickly stopped her. "Lower your voice, she could be awake." She looked at me. "Look...I'll just keep telling her to ignore, that's it." I turned back to the eggs that were in the frying pan.

"Soon she's gonna grow old and you're gonna have to give her an appropriate answer."

"Well not this soon, Rachel. I've tried everything...witches...spells...portions, to cut off that link she has with him and none have worked." I couldn't say his name. I haven't been able to for a long time. Rachel only figured him out after I told her he was the Lycan king of the Dark Crescent Park.

"Don't worry, we'll figure something out."

I turned to her. "I am not scared, Rachel, I. am. terrified of what will happen when the two manage to communicate."

She gave me the plate with the avo toast. "Just keep on talking to her, make sure she tells you everything and does what you tell her...and that is not to say anything to the so-called imaginary friend and I'm sure Rey isn't secretive when it comes to you. She's just a little girl, and little girls confide in their moms, it's a thing. If anything happens...if she speaks to him, she'll just tell you."

I sighed, placing the omelette on the avo toast. I handed her the plate and she placed it on the dining table, together with a glass of juice.

"Trust me..."

I just look at her hopelessly.

"Mommy..." I heard that cheerful voice.

She was awake.

"Oh, sweetheart..." I squatted to hug her and kiss her multiple times. "How are you, my baby girl?"

"Well...I feel...anxious..." She looked at me.

Damn, her ability to feel my emotions at times...like right now.

"Oh...don't worry...I woke up a little bit tired. Yesterday's work was overwhelming, but it's nothing. I promise." I was partly true.

"Well, your pulse is racing..."

She noticed my small lie so I cut her off. "Yeah, I'm just feeling anxious and tired about work."

"Oh...okay." She ran to hug Rachel and I looked at Rachel.

She just played along...a cheerful aunt. "Oh, I'm glad you look good today."
