~LEILA

I could hear the wind shifting through the trees in the woods. I could smell the rain that was to come later in the day. The decomposed leaves on the earth. I could feel the movement of every creature from a horribly large radius. Then voices...

"I told you not to let her get drawn with the moon. I told you as soon as you were done, to get her the hell away from him..."

"She needed it, Max. It is her birthright."

"And it wasn't the fucking time. I could feel the energy down to me...down to your pack. Now every pack member in Blue Moon is starting to question about the female lycan."

"As they should...they should know they have a real alpha and that's not Edward."

"That brings questions, Nick...questions that will come knocking at your door too...and guess what...your pup is on the other side of it."

My eyes shot open but I was in the room alone. My head pounded from my invaded senses...or maybe I was the one invading. I held it as I sat up and willed myself to shut out everything. I winced when every feeling became loud until...it was quiet.

I opened my eyes fully and it was as if I could see every speck of colour on the wallpaper, every dust on the rug, every...I shut my eyes again and opened them. My vision levelled fine.

I sighed before pushing up from the bed to my feet. My legs felt too strong. I almost stumbled forward and fell to my knees. I knocked the glass of water off the table, and the shattering sound made my ears ring, and my head dizzy. It was too loud...too everything. I felt overwhelmed.

The door burst open, making the ringing go on for long. I held my hands over my ears, frustrated.

"Leila...leila, are you okay?"

"You're awake..."

"You've been out for days..."

"I was worried about you."

The voices around me made my head ring more. A touch around my elbow made me want to dig into my skin and stop whatever it was I was feeling. I pulled my arm away.

"Stop!" I winced, pitying whoever it was that touched me. I didn't want to be rude, they were just worried about me. "Stop, please...you're too loud."

"Too loud?" A voice marveled and I realized it was Max. I was yet to open my eyes.

"Shh!" Another voice.

The hands that touched me again, made fluttering sparks fly across my skin. I yearned for the touch as it led me back and made me sit on the bed. He gently drew my hands from my ears.

His hushed tone was loud to me. "Tell me what it is, baby."

I clenched my eyes shut more, to the effect. "Everything's so loud. Everything looks too bright. I can smell the ground outside; I can feel everyone shifting in their movement. I feel lightheaded. I even feel lighter on my feet."
