NICK'S POV
After the conversation Leila and Ana had, I couldn't get Leila's words out of my head.
"Again, I'm sorry. And I promise, it meant nothing. Everything that happened last night...was a mistake. A big one."
What did she mean it was a mistake? What did she mean it meant nothing.
For days, she avoided me and I remained stuck with these thoughts. What we had done had meant a whole deal, she couldn't just think it nothing.
I boxed through it, sparred with Kayeel through it, until I decided to man up and inquire about it.
I stood across the room after I bid Rey goodnight. Leila had a habit of waiting until I left, to get out of the shower and sleep. So I shut the lights as usual, closed the door and pretended I did.
Leila walked out of the bathroom holding a towel around herself. "I've been thinking..." she said, probably talking to Rey, "...that I should get my hair cut short."
She didn't notice me at the end of the room
She reached the closet door and started wiping herself off without removing the towel fully. "I know, I know, you're gonna want to stop me, but I have a cause..." she went on, "... every time I carry you, you tug on it, pulling it, it kinda hurt. You know..." She struggled to wipe her hair and I remembered the scent of it. "...I've ever done it before, you just don't remember." She covered her towel on her waist and left her back bare. I bit my lip.
Oh goddess, she is so beautiful. Kale remarked
'I know...now shut up.' I stared at her.
She pressed some hair product on her hand and applied it on her hair, running her fingers in it. "When you were little, you cried and pulled on it angrily it hurt, so Rachel and I resorted to cutting it short. It actually looked good. You would pull on everything that was above our heads."
She looks so fucking...
'I said shut up.'
I'm hoping you're not gonna screw this up.
'I know what I'm doing.'
What 'are' you doing?
I didn't bother to answer Kale
Fuck you're gonna screw this up, aren't you?
She pulled her towel up, gripping it on her chest, making her breasts lift full. She held a chunk of her hair up and stood in front of the mirror.
"I'm thinking I should cut it this short..." She indicates just below her shoulder. She raises it higher to her neck, "...or this. I cut it this short last time, you would've liked it." She released her hair. "But you hated it since you had nothing to pull on when you were angry."
