~LEILA
We didn't speak as we wore our clothes back on. I was afraid a single sound from me would show how desperately I wanted him back between my legs again. I was afraid the sound of his voice would take me back to the floor with him.
What we did was explicitly amazing if I do say so myself. It had worn us off the rest of the day. I missed those moments when Nick would lie sated and helpless next to me after a whole night of passion.
If it were up to me, I would have stayed a little longer, but that wasn't the reason we came.
If I stood in close proximity to him, I was going to be tempted to touch him...and that would result in a long unnecessary night between us. Let's face it...I couldn't ignore the pull I had on him even if I forced myself to.
As if he knew, he didn't say a word when he got the door for me. He didn't utter anything as we walked to Ayla with a huge distance between us. I somehow tracked every movement of him next to me...every hitching breath.
We followed Ayla's scent to her lounge room where she sat, playing chess with herself whilst having a glass of wine. Ana who sat across the room from her stood abruptly, ready to run into the arms of her fiancé.
She halted with a contorted face and I immediately knew she smelled it. Fury was written all over her face when Ayla grinned and stood to acknowledge us.
"Well...you took longer than I expected."
I walked further into the room, away from Nick. For an Ice Queen, it was rather surprising to find the fireplace brimming with fire. The room was warm with undertones of brown, the only light coming from the fireplace.
"It was unexpected." Nick walked to the couch next to hers and they both sat.
I stood by the window, looking through the slit of the curtains, outside. I could only see mist. It was hard to know where we were exactly and the cold blocked every sense in me.
"I'll get straight to the point..."
"You're afraid I'm gonna tell on you?" She sipped on her wine.
"Now that's beside the point."
"Is it?" Ana scowled, her hands folded on her chest.
"I need your help." I said before things took a turn.
Ayla turned to me. "You're too far, female lycan, there's enough space on the couch." She looked at the space on Nick's couch.
There was no way I was taking that bait.
"My beta is the Lycan Slayer."
"Aah! So I've heard."
Nick's brows furrowed, "You knew?"
"About the Lycan Slayer...yes. But that it's her beta...no. Rest assured, Nickolas, you don't need to kill the other twenty guards."
Nick sighed, guilt locking on his face. "I was wrong."
