~LEILA
When I had lost all hope, I was surprised my mate still had some to offer. I thought I would never see my little girl again. I didn't know where she was, who she was with, what they were doing to her... mostly what they were doing to her. This was what made me mad. I didn't know if she was in pain or not, if she cried for me or not. The whole scenario made me crazy.
When I started hearing her, I thought it was in my head. Because I started seeing images of my home mansion and I hadn't been in there in ages. I saw Reinah. I saw my mother. I saw when I gave birth to Rey. I saw many things I couldn't distinguish whether they were real or not. I believed myself crazy.
So when Nick told me she could hear her, I was glad I was no longer crazy. I was glad my baby girl was alive.
Now I didn't know what was real and what was not. But the thing that I knew for sure was that my daughter was in my home pack.
How she got there...I didn't know.
After a long while of the both of us sobbing on that porch floor, Nick spent the night with me at the refugee houses. For once he didn't look tired but determined. I watched him sleep soundly, at times twitching from whatever dream he would have. I feared he would want more than to sleep with me--something I wasn't ready for--but surprisingly we didn't get intimate. He didn't even push or ask for it.
I was glad.
We left the next morning for the mansion each one of us keeping an open link for Rey. When we arrived, Dana was already waiting for us at the doorstep. Her face was expressionless until a small tug of a smile bit at her lips.
"Welcome back." She said.
She didn't seem angry - or disappointed like the first time I arrived.
We all went for breakfast where we explained everything to everyone. By afternoon, Nick had managed to infiltrate some of his men in my pack in search of Rey and anything useful about Reinah and the pack. I realized desperation was a really strong push.
We all anxiously waited in the living room until the evening. No one had had their lunch that day. No one's guts were settled. Ana was seated at the far couch in the room. Silent. I did my best not to give any signs that I wanted her...man back. But Nick was too excited to back away from me and every time he touched me, she flinched or narrowed her eyes.
"Goddess, I need a drink for this." I ran my hands on my face.
"Let me get it for you." Nick offered.
"No, it's okay." I got up. "I'll get it."
I walked to the table and poured water into a glass.
I halted to a stop as soon as I turned.
I was in a dark familiar outdoor balcony...at home. I saw half man...half beast. I wasn't even sure what it was. A lycan...or a wolf. It was some creature. Some specie. But it made my heart race to my throat.
