Punch.

Dodge. Dodge.

A sharp pain invaded my jaw after Kayeel threw a hit on me.

It was a silent spar. I didn't want to talk. She also didn't want to talk. We were still in the not-talking phase. And thank Goddess we were because I needed it. We had the whole training ring to ourselves and I needed to let loose some frustration building up in me.

"Rule number three; We can only be allies. Nothing more, nothing less."

My chest stung.

I could still feel the sting as if now

I asked like a desperate child. "What about Rey? We're both her parents."

"We can co-parent, yes. But we can never pursue each other. It can only remain as co-parenting and because of it, allies."

Another hit on my gut and I hunched over. I then dodge the knee coming for my face.

"You're distracted." She heaved.

I threw a blow at her and felt her nose crack under my fist. She pulled back, stumbling in shock. I shook my wrist to cool off the tension in my hand and body all together. There was so much adrenaline rush.

She then fixed her nose with another crack. Letting blood still run down from it, she attacked. We went on a wild back-and-forth spar.

"Of course, I wouldn't. Look at this. Look at what's happening.  I'm your mate, your ex-lover, with your child, under the same roof with your fiancé. Nickolas, how did you think that would go?"

Another hit and I found myself on the floor, my breath thrown out of my lungs. And before I could take some air in, I rolled out from the foot that was about to crush my chest, getting up.

I felt dizzy. Out of breath. Out of...

"...shape." I finally heard her words from the ringing in my ears.

I low grumble escaped my throat when I went for her again, harder this time. She dodged and dodged, only receiving a few of my blows.

"What are you doing? What are you doing? You're engaged for Goddess' sake."

I received hers but I kept going, frustration pouring out of my body.

"And then what? What do you expect me to do when you touch me like that? What do you expect me to do when I feel the pleasure of those sparks, Nick, I did not come here for this -"

"I know."

"- most especially did not come here to cause any more trouble."

The frustration rumbled out of me as I remembered my mother's eyes when she found us in the kitchen.
