Amelia quietly tiptoed her way to the kitchen as soon as she woke up, carefully not to wake up the raven haired man who was sleeping on the sofa. After they stayed up late last night drinking, both of them ended up sleeping in the living room.

She placed candles around the cake, muttering a spell to lit the candles up. Mia turned back to the living room before she yelled out.

"Happy birthday!"

Her yelling caused him to jolt out of the sofa, his head colliding with hers and the cake slipping from her fingers from the pain. Both of them landing on the floor.

"Ow." The brunette held her head. "Wow. I really shouldn't wake you like that and now the cake is on the ground." she murmured, frowning at the floor.

He chuckled, crawling over to her, his hands being smothered with cake frosting. Before she could even complain about his hands being covered in frosting, the raven haired man spoke, "Thank you for the gesture, Mia. I appreciate it even though the cake's on the floor." he kissed her cheeks before rubbing frosting across her face.

"Hey, you bloody git!" she narrowed her eyes at his amused self before she wiped the frosting on floor and to his face, grinning triumphantly. Regulus scoffed before letting out a soft laugh. Their eyes met before their faces heated up and averted their gazes
"Happy birthday, Regulus."

Making her way to the library, the brunette wore her earphones that were connected to her walkman. The song 'Good Old Fashioned Loverboy' by Queen was flowing through her ears.

It was a typical Friday for nine year old Sierra De Martel, she'd always go to the library while her mother was at the hospital, Regulus at the Magical Congress for work, and her brother playing with the neighbors.

The little girl greeted the librarian before disappearing through the classical sections of the library. She grabbed a copy of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens before she sat at her usually spot by the couch near the desks where people do their work or read books.

Sierra was aware of the fact that a man sat down at the sofa across from her. When she glanced up and removed her headphones, she met the eyes from the man.

"Great Expectations. It's a good book." the man said, closing the book he was reading.

She smiled, sweetly as she nodded. "It is. It's one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I can only get to read it in this library."

"Why is that?" the man questioned.

"My parents don't have a copy of it." she simply answered. "I should get going. Goodbye, mister." she stood up, offering him a smile before walking back to put the book back in it's shelf before leaving.

"Goodbye, Sierra." he mumbled to himself as he watched the little girl walk away from him.

The next morning, the little brown haired girl walked to the porch to sit by the swing on the front porch. To her utter surprise, there was item that was wrapped with black wrapping paper and a white ribbon. It was addressed for her.

She wasted no time to open up the gift and what was inside made her eyes widened in shock as she jaw dropped to the ground. It was the first edition of the Great Expectations.

Her fingers trailed on the book before she opened it, only to have a postcard drop on her feet. She placed the book on swing with the wrappings around it, afraid of getting it dirty before she reached for the postcard.
