I woke up on a cold floor; my head pulsed in pain. Slowly, I sat up and tried to clear my blurred vision. I could feel something trickle down the side of my head. My head gentle touched my temple and I looked at me red stained finger tips. That explained the reason for my headache. I then notice the debris around me and I looked up.
There was a hole in the ceiling and snow lightly fell through it. I then remembered how I got down here. I was being chased, hunted down by something maleficent.
------
I stood up and looked around but there was only darkness except where I stood. The hole above me only provided a small source of light. I bit my nails unsure of what to do. I did not want to step out into the darkness, who knows what was roaming around here. But at the same time I couldn't just stand here and wait, he would find me and there is no one who will help me.
--Shit--
I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart. I took a step into the darkness and quickly, quietly, I walked.
-CRACKLE-
I instinctively jumped. What I believed sounded like paper crumpled underneath my feet. My breathing shook and I continued walking slowly reaching out for anything to guide me.
Slowly, I continued walking. I took another deep breath and exhaled softly. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears, I could feel my hands shaking. I wished more than anything that I had a flashlight with me.
I continued until I bumped into something. It startled me. I slowly traced my hands along it and gripped. It was a desk. I used it as a guide in the darkness, but I quickly stopped when I heard something. I held my breath. It sounded like footsteps. I quickly ducked, sticking close to the desk as I shook with fright. I crawled on my knees tracing my hands around the desk until I could a place to hide under it. But-
"AH-mph" I startled cry escaped my lips but was immediately clamped shut by the hand of another human.
A small flicker of light illuminated our faces and I stared into her eyes. Brown and filled with panic. She held a finger to her lips indicating for me to keep quiet. I slowly nodded my head and she released her hand from my mouth.
I looked at her more; surpised to find another human that was alive and not mutilated. She had messy brown hair and her clothes were dirty and stained with blood. Otherwise than that, she seemed completely fine. I wondered how long she must have been here, if she had been hiding here all this time, safe from those monsters above us.
"Who are you?" I whispered
"...madeline" she whispered back. Her voice was raspy and cold.
She crawled out from the desk and stood up beckoning me to follow her. I didn't hesitate to do so, I made sure to keep as close to her as I could. That lighter in her hand was the only source of light in this place and I did not want be left in the dark again.
"Have been hiding here this whole time?" I asked her
She nodded her head in response and I felt a small sense of relief that finally I was somewhere safe.
