Our first meeting was something strange. An unlikely cross of two worlds between a hunter and an outcast. We were never supposed to meet, it was something that shouldn't have been. But yet...
I grew tired of walking through the dense forest. My feet were sore and I was thirsty. If I listened close enough I could hear the sounds of running water. Maybe a stream was nearby. I followed the direction of the sound slowly walking through the shrubbery and trees, then J found that little stream that opened up to a small little pond. I smiled.
I walked cautiously amongst the rocks and took a seat. I leaned in making sure to get a hand full of water in my grasp and drank its coolness. I dipped my feet in the stream hoping to ease the soreness. The cool water felt good against my skin. I shouldn't stay too long, I would have to keep moving again soon, but I was tired. I wished to relax a while longer...but if I were not careful I would most likely be caught.
Lately the hunters have been slowly encroaching on us. I've heard to many of us has either been captured or killed. I did not wish to end up like the others. I only to cross the boundary between the mountains and then I would find my peace, but for now I wanted to take in as much of this place begire I truly left. After all this was my home and birthplace, it's a bit sad to have to leave it all behind.
I stood up and walked through the water a bit. It felt good. I leaned over and splashed some water on my face. It was refreshing, I let out a relaxed sigh and smiled. I rubbed the water out of my eyes, as I turned I paused and my smile quickly faded.
On the otherside of the bank was a hunter. He was filling his canteen with water but stopped at the sight of me. We were both frozen for that moment. Only sounds of birds breaking the silence that we held. The moment sunlight broke through the trees we moved. I turned to run , the hunter moved to grab his weapon, however I slipped on one of the rocks crashing I to the water with a splash.
The hunter stood up with his weapon in hand and looked down at me, wet and glaring daggers at him. I turned to run again.
"Don't move" he had his weapon pointed at me.
I sat still in the water, eyeing his movements , waiting for any hint of an opening, and then I saw it. The moment he took a step into the water I kicked his feet from out under him. He fell I to the water dropping his weapon, I quickly grabbed it and chucked it off where he wouldn't be able to grab it.
Before he could get up I straddled him, pushing him down and forcing his head under the water. He struggled under my grip but I forced more strength down on him. I thought he would give up and accept his untimely death but instead I felt something unsettling.
It felt like something was about to be torn out from me. It was like the discomfort of pulling out a tooth. I quickly let go and hugged my chest in panic. That was the chance he needed as he got the upper hand. He pushed back so now I laid pinned under him. He was panting, water dripping from his skull. His eye sockets burned with the will to live as my eyes burned with the need to escape.
The light dawned on both of us, the water that now thoroughly soaked our clothes cast lights of the droplets on our faces that seemed to make it sparkle. We just stared at each other, no longer fighting, just...catching out breaths.
"Please let me go" I found my voice and quietly spoke to him
My request seemed to catch him off gaurd. He had a puzzled look on his face. He eased off the pressure on my shoulder, but but entirely releasing me.
