Sometimes I feel sad when another school year ends but that sad feeling always disapears because no school means more time to do nothing! Which may I add, is my favourite thing to do ever.

I invited Luke round after school so we can talk about plans in the holidays.

"Do you have a diary?" he asks, suddenly.

"No way, diaries are for loosers," I laugh before realising that Luke used to keep one.

He looks at me sadly.

"I mean, loosers are cool you know?"

I cringe after saying that. 'Loosers are cool'?

Luckily he laughs and changes the subject while I think back to that time when I read his diary. He wrote that entry years ago, he couldn't still feel that way. Plus he probably didn't know what he was doing at that age.

"Alex?" he says.

"What?" I blink and look up at him.

"Next Sunday? Are you free?"

"Um yeah I think,"

"Good, cool," he smirks.

"Why? What's happening on Sunday?"

"It's a surprise,"

I sigh, "Luke please! You know I hate surprises!"

"Trust me, you'll like this one. It's not even a surprise. You'll just have to wait til Sunday,"

"Why can't you tell me now?" I ask.

"Because I'd like to see your reaction,"

The topic ends there as we hear my phone ring. I groan as I reach over Luke to grab it from my desk. He pushes me off him causing me to fall off the bed and land with a thump. At the same time, Luke screams and my mum rushes into my room, shaking her head when she sees me on the floor.

"You kids," she says, walking out.

Luke laughs uncontrollably as I answer my phone.

"Hello?" I say into my device.

My laughing mess of a friend won't shut up so I take my phone to the bathroom.

"Um who is this?" a male voice asks.

I hear giggles in the background from another voice.

"I could ask the same thing," I reply as Luke enters the bathroom

"Who is it?" he mouthes and I shrug, putting the call on speakerphone.

"It's Calum, Luke's friend. Err, is this Alex?"

Luke gasps and snatches my phone away.

"Luke! What?"

He goes into my room and sits against the door so I can't get in.

"Guys! I can't believe you actually called her!" he whispers, loud enough for me to hear.

"Let me in you retard," I kick the door and he eventually opens it and chucks my phone to me.

"Are you gonna tell me what just happened?" I ask, sitting on my bed and crossing my arms.

"Michael may or may not have a crush on you,"

"What? He doesn't even know me!" I say, throwing my arms in the air.

"Yeah but obviously I've told them about you," he admits.

"Aw you sweetheart," I say, annoying him.

"So should I tell him that you're not interested or?"

"No, just leave it for a while. Hopefully he'll forget. I take it you gave him my number?"

"Sorry," he pouts.

This all came out of nowhere. First I find out that 13 year old Luke liked me and now his friend Michael? I don't understand. I mean yeah Michael is kinda cute and all but he's Luke's friend. Would he be okay with it? Wait, what am I saying. It's not like Luke has a crush on me too. Well at least not right now. Maybe, I could have fun with this.

"Tell you what," I say, "We should all do something together,"

"Who?"

"You know, you, Michael, Calum and me! It could be fun,"

"Fun? Okay then," he says.

"What?"

"Nothing. I'll ask if you can come to Michael's next time we meet up, yeah?" he says, getting out his phone.

"Great," I smile.

Owen smiles at me when I sit down at the table, called for a family meeting.

"What's up with you?" I ask.

"Mum!! Please can I tell her?" he whines.

"Tell me what?!"

Mum sighs and shoots Owen a glare as she sits down. She places her hands together.

"As you both know, we haven't seemed or acted like a proper family since the whole situation with your dad...," her voice trails off.

"It's okay mum," I smile at her reassuringly.

"Thanks darling," she smiles back.

"Mum just tell her!!" Owen says, impatiently.

"I thought it was time for a change. So I realised one of the things that you kids were very found of was a holiday,"

"What are you saying?" I ask, my heart pounding.

"Well I booked a small holiday to France in August, but this is just the beginning. Soon everything will be back to normal,"

"That's amazing!! Thank you so much!" I cry and hug my mum.

She laughs, "I'm doing it for you guys, okay?"

Owen's smile is so large that it touches the sides of his eyes. His legs are swinging about under the table which I know he only does when he's excited.

"This is going to be the best year ever," I say, mostly to myself.
