He's gonna stand me up. Again. He won't turn up and I'll be waiting for him like an idiot. Its not even 11 yet, so I have no reason to be worrying, but I can't help thinking that it will happen all over again.

Ruby is sitting a few steps in front of me, writing on her white converse.

"What the hell are you doing that for?" I ask, moving to sit beside her.

She doesn't look at me, just carries on with what she's doing, "It's cool so shut up,"

"I can't,"

"Well, distract yourself instead of distracting me," she sighs, still doodling.

"Ruby!!" I practical yell at her, receiving cold looks from strangers.

She pretends to look scared, to make the strangers even disgusted.

"This isn't funny," I whine, "You need to talk to me,"

"Jesus Christ, Alex! Give the boy some time. He said he'll be here at 11," she says, grabbing my arm and carefully twisting it so I can read my watch, "What time does that say?"

"10:30," I mumble.

"There you go. Why don't we go for a walk?" she suggests.

My face lights up, "Yes, yes please,"

"What does it say?"

Ruby and I have been walking for 15 minutes, not knowing where to go; just passing time. I have almost forgotten that we're here to meet Luke, until my phone makes a noise, earning my attention.

" 'We're on our way', " I read aloud, not mentioning the fact that he sent me a 'x'.

I look over to my best friend and smile in excitement, "Wow ok, we should head back,"

She nods her head, "I wonder who he's with. Do you think Michael will be with him? Or all of them? I'd rather see them all,"

"We'll just have to wait and see," I say, grinning.

On our way back to our meeting spot, I text Luke a reply.

me and ruby are 10 minutes away, see you soon x

hurry up!! we just got here p.s im with all the boys, hope that's ok x

I tell Ruby he's with the rest of the band and her face lights up with excitement.

"I'm so excited! For you, I mean - I'm excited for you," she says, happily.

I laugh at her, "I'm excited for you too,"

She smiles at me and we carry on walking until we reach the spot. As soon as we get there, Ruby points to a group of boys near the top steps; two of them playfully fighting, trying to push each other over; one of them pretending he doesn't know them, trying to distract himself on his phone; the other one, Luke, looking around nervously.

It's just then when I notice he still wears the bracelets.

Ruby squeals as we head up to meet them, they don't realise until we are only a few steps below them. Luke is the first to see, greeting us both with smiles and looks of relief spill over his face.

"You thought I wouldn't come?" I laugh, shielding my eyes from the sun as I get closer to him.

"What?" he asks, "No I'm just glad you're finally here,"

He puts his arms out to hug me and I immediately embrace him, burying my head in his shoulders. It feels so familiar yet distant, even though we hugged yesterday. I've missed him so much since then, it's unreal.

When I step back, so I can go over to the other boys, Luke is pushed out of the way by Calum, who seems very hyperactive today.

"Well damn, I thought you guys were never gonna let go," he says, laughing,

Luke and I laugh too; I don't think we wanted to let go.

Ruby is chatting to Michael and Ashton, showing them the scribbles on her shoes, to which they respond with interest.

They both see me and wave, before Luke heads over to talk to them. Ruby skips over with excitement.

"Did you see that? We just had a conversation! Alex, they said they like my shoes!"

"Yes, I saw, congratulations!" I exclaim, glad to see her happy.

Calum starts to talks to me and Ruby, just as Luke comes back over. He looks at me.

"Do you wanna go somewhere?"

Shit. I know what's happening. We're gonna have the talk about 'us' and I can't tell if I'm scared or glad that he's brought it up. I know we have to talk about it sometime, I guess I was just hoping we would see what happens. This is good, though. Nothing is gonna happen that could be nearly as bad as what happened last time.

I breathe in, before nodding my head, "Yeah, let's go,"

this book is getting worse and worse so i apologise for that, but i am trying to pick up the pace and get this shit finished. although i did kinda like this chapter.

anyway i'm listening to fetus 5sos rn so i am emotionally unstable
