After the disaster that happened on Friday with Bryce, I am not excited for school today.
Atlas is riding with Leah today so I'm basically a nervous wreck. No scratch that. I am a nervous wreck.
As soon as I walk in the building I can feel anxiety creeping up on me, but surprisingly, no one says a word at first. No one even looks at me weird.
I stand in front of my locker, shoving my bag inside of it when I feel a familiar presence behind me.
I turn around to see a brightly grinning Atlas. After the nightmare she had Friday and then again Saturday night, I haven't seen that grin.
I smile back at the sight of her happy.
"Hi love."
"Hi Ev."
"Atlas."
"Everette."
"I didn't get suspended. Or detention."
She lets out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank god."
I chuckle. "I haven't even been to the office baby, no ones said anything." I say reassuringly. I know it's worrying her that I'll get suspended and she'll be in all of her classes alone, but I'm not worried. Nobody really likes Bryce. And like I said, Bryce is a big guy, I only hit him a few times. I probably didn't even leave a big enough mark to be noticeable. And he's not one to get Turner involved in anything.
Turner himself doesn't even like Bryce.
~~~~~~~~~~~~I walk into the cafeteria for lunch and sit down at my usual table, Leah, Atlas, and James already seated. I scan the room for Bryce and notice he isn't here.
"Ev!" Atlas exclaims happily when she sees me.
I get to the table and kiss her on the head before sitting next to her.
"Hey Everette, I'm taking Leah to the carnival tonight, you and Atlas should come." James says.
Me and James have been kind of distant lately. It's no ones fault really, we've just been busy with our own lives and haven't hung out in a while. We still talk to each other and see each other during school but we just aren't as close as we used to be.
I look over At atlas, "do you wanna go?"
She nods. "Sure man" I say to James.
"You and Leah huh?" I ask him smirking, I knew he liked her but I didn't know it was serious, he could've told me.
He kicks my leg under the table and I wince, Leah and Atlas whispering from beside me.
"Why are you being so quiet Kai?" Atlas asks.
"Oh no reason, just sitting here 5th wheeling" Kai retorts
Leah let's out a loud laugh "you can come too Kai." She rolls her eyes
"YAY!!" Kai nearly falls out of his seat at the table.
"Have you talked to Eli?" I ask Atlas softly.
"No, I don't think I can right now." I just nod.
Eli needs to talk to her, because even though Atlas won't admit to it I can tell she needs her brother. She doesn't want things to be like this.
~~~~~~~~~~~After school I showered and put on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt for the carnival. I haven't been to one of those since like the 7th grade.
When Leah and Atlas get home, they shower as well and are in their room getting ready.
I'm sitting in my room reading, when Eli walks in my room.
