37- Atlas

"Baby." I poke Ev in the sides, attempting to wake him up

But of course, him being the big baby he is, just whines and Keeps his eyes closed. 

"I will get up and leave without you." I say and he opens his eyes

"You will not. I'm awake." He says and I drag him out of bed, forcing him to get ready so we can go look at venues. 

We've been planning the wedding, basically ever since graduation because we don't know how much time we have left, and with summer break starting in less than a month, it's probably best to have the wedding sooner rather than later. 

Not to mention I can't wait.

The first venue we look at is pretty, but it's really not my style nor Everette's even though he said he'd be "fine with whatever."

Sometimes I really wish he'd be slightly more helpful when it comes to making decisions.

We look at 2 more venues, before Everette finally makes a suggestion.

"What if we just get a caterer. And make like- our own wedding place thing."

Amazing Explanation Ev. Truly fantastic.

"In more words, that's genius!!" I exclaim

"I'm so smart." He grins and I straighten my face

"You're mean." He says and I laugh

"Ookay so when we get back I have to go get my sister from your sister and then go to the courthouse, are you going?" He asks and I,

Well I'm confused.

"Courthouse? OH right the adoption" I realize and he laughs

"Yes of course I'm going." I say and he nods before turning on the car and pulling out to of the place the venue is

We- or well I, helped Ev decide to adopt his sister. I know he wanted to and she deserves that much, when he asked me to sign though- that was not expected. Obviously I said yes though.

When we get back to my house and grab Athena, we then go to Our house so Ev can shower and change clothes or whatever he wanted to do.

I can't really keep up with the amount of times that man changes in one day. And I do his laundry for him.

I sit and play with Athena while he finishes getting ready and since what I was wearing was already "professional." I didn't change.

When we get to the courthouse Everette grabs Athena from her car seat and walks inside, she immediately starts wailing when he puts her down and I sigh, picking her back up.

She giggles, playing with curls on my head.

Everette walks up to the front desks in the courthouse, you know the ones where you go to get lisense plates with like the glass on the front, yeah those.

I follow behind him and hear mumbling and the office lady points to a door on the other side and leads us back inside through a hallway to a door that says

"Adoption" on the front.

I just suggested going to the literal adoption agency but apparently because we already have the kid we are going to adopt, that takes longer than just coming straight here

So, here we are.

Everette sits in front of the social worker in the office, us both having to explain the situation Everette and Athena were in with his parents, and why he didn't adopt her sooner.

"I was in high school, to put it as simply as possible. I've been like Athenas father ever since she was born already, but there's a big difference between being a sibling who acts like a parent than actually becoming the parent." He says and Brian, the social worker nods.

"This is true, now look kid, I want the best for you and that little girl-" he looks at Athena

"But this process isn't simple. I think you and your Fiancé would be amazing parents, but you're both 18 years old. Athena is already 4, and you still have college to think about. If this is what you both want, I can make it happen, but it will change your entire lives."

Everette pauses and looks at him before he turns and looks at me

"Do you want this?" He asks quietly

I nod "of course I want this. You and your sister are important to me, I would love to be her mother Everette, I love her so much. She means the world to me and so do you." I respond and he looks back at Brian.

"We do, sir." Brian nods before typing on his computer.

"Alright, you two will have to come back in a few days for the paperwork, but it's official." He smiles and Everette wraps his arm around me and he stands up and shakes Brian's hand.

"Cmon Baby." He looks at Athena and she raises up, holding my hand and as we walk out.

When we get to the car Everette is finally able to show his excitement and I laugh at the huge grin on his face but in reality I'm no less happy than he is.

My phone pings and I get a notification from the hospital.

I gasp slightly and Everette looks over at me

"What? What is it? Is something wrong?" He says frantically and tears fall down my face

"No, no nothing is wrong." I say and he looks at me confused before I show him the notification

His eyes widen and he starts driving

"Call the doctor I'll call your family." He says and I nod

Athena asks what's going on from the backseat and Ev just smiles at her

"You're getting a heart." He says and I nod, tears still running down my face.

A/N: Soooo. I changed my mind. This book will have a happy ending. Tada. Thank me rn.

Jk.

But yeah- I love Ev and Atlas too much for them to not have the happy ending they deserve.

Some of the previous chapters make no sense now because I had planned for a sad ending but- nope.

Just disregard all the plots that fell through and be happy.

On a sad not though, only 3 more chapters before the epilouge(s). It breaks my heart but this book has been drawn out for far to long and it's honestly quite bad in the beginning so I will probably edit/ re-write some chapters when it ends.
